Went to the parts depo in Battersea today and was sold the B&M tomtom and was told it was a brand new model and works with 500's with the new B&M setup (which mine has)...

Not sure how true this is but so far I can put in the pin to pair tomtom with the car but then it says that there is no bluetooth in the car.

tomtom support are going to contact me tomorrow to try and help and I'll update here when I know. But if anyone knows if the above is right would love to know.

Cheers

The only Sat Nav that is fully compatible with the Fiat 500 is the Blue&Me Map system, not the TomTom which is for the Punto Evo (and think the Doblo).

I believe some users have got some versions of TomTom working in a 500 through the dashbard port. However you won't have the full range of features. E.g. the unit probably won't mute the sound and it won't have the Evo features of an integrated Ecodrive.

How much did they charge you for the TomTom? The MAP is £286.54 if you don't have the port already built into the dashboard or £261.65 if you have the port. (Fiat Accessories website prices).

If I was in your position I'd be straight back to Battersea and get them to get it working for you. It is unacceptable that they've sold this to you and leave you to try to work out how it can be installed.

Hi Thumper,

Thats what I thought when I went there and was surprised when they told me vehicles less than 2 months old are now compatible. I was down there again today and they tested it with another 500 and it didn't work either. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt (not too sure why though) and they are going to check compatible chassy (sp?) numbers... I'm pretty sure I'm going to be taking another trip there on monday to return it (which they have no issue with).

Having played with it now though, even if it was compatible, I think I would get the dash port cradle and a different tomtom with live services as this is lacking from the B&M version.

Paid 288 for it, only bought it really because it was there. Woops!

I hope they got it sorted for you.....it can't be too difficult for them to install a TomTom - after all Halfords can do it!

If you ended up with a refund from them there are a couple of other threads in this forum about getting non Blue&Me TomToms working using the dashboard socket for power (neater than a standalone one using the cigarette socket).

They are still struggling. They keep telling me it's new so they dont really know how to use it... Not quite what I want to hear. Got a couple of issues with B&M in general and they basically tell me not to use that feature, again, not a fix!

I'm going to take it back on monday, buy the dash port and get a different tomtom. Will prob cost the same amount in the end but at least it will have tomtom live (I was shocked to find out I had to buy an FM thingy to get traffic on the B&M tomtom!)

The site looks like it might have some good deals but I've heard only bad things Magnet Marelli so I'm going to get a tomtom and the dashboard dock.

On another note. They confirmed today that it didn't work because of production date, newer 500's should have the ability to pair with it (I think I was about a week off, car arrived 1st september 10)

Confirmed:

The TomTom is the original holder for the factory
built-in recording (in dashboard) delivered.

To use the full Funktionsumpfang of
TomTom is the option code 68R necessary.

68R = Ecodrive / shift point indicator / Europe Maps /
Select Media Player ect.

54K = charging function / operator

from: http://www.partsuno.de/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5211

Not too happy. Why would they make 54K standard if they are about to phase it out?

Thanks for giving us an update.
I presume they've made it standard so they can sell overpriced TomTom (or 500 MAP) units! I've seen elsewhere on here that you can use the dash port for non Blue&Me TomToms... something I'll be looking into more after I get my car.

My car is on the cut-off as to whether it will work or not (dealer got my car a month ago so I bet I missed the updated version too!)

You might be lucky but I cant remember what date they told me at the dealer. Fingers crossed for you though. I'm gonna give fiat a call and have a little rant at them, pretty sure nothing will come out of it though... (try and get a free dashport dock out of them :D)

I picked my 500 up on the 12th October and have just got the Blue & Me TomTom, I can't seem to get it to pair, but when I'm trying the words 'blue&me' pop up in the top right hand corner. Does anyone know when the cut off date for the older software was? I'm not sure if I'll have the updated version that is said to work with the TomTom or not.

Thank you :)

I think the cut off is 01 June or 01 July but I'm not sure what that date refers to... manufacture, order received... or any of the other stages.

When I tried to pair it to a non compatible 500 the tomtom said my car didn't have bluetooth. So if it pairs with the blueandme then I think you're in luck. If you bug the ciao fiat number enough they should be able to do a chassis check for you to let you know if it is compatible.

Thank you, I'll try and give them a ring. It gets as far as asking me for the pin then tries to connect then says no bluetooth was found. The Blue & Me Map did that at first for some reason as well. My phone connected first time though. Hopefully I'll get it working :)

I forgot to ask in my last post if I have to use a different way to connect the TomTom with my car, or do I just go through the same steps as I did with the Blue & Me map: Settings/Pairing then typed in the pin on the device?

Thank you :)

Amy, as you are asking about pairing the TomTom to the car can I ask if you have the relevant instructions for the SatNav?

If not you can find them here.

Good luck. (y)

Hi, Thank you so much for those! :D I only got a tiny setting up instruction book in my box, I'll look though that and give it a go tomorrow :) Hopefully I'll get it working :)
Thanks again!

Same story here.. Got a 500 with B&M Nav, not pairing with TomTom B&M.

Anyone any golden tips??:worship:

Hi, Im picking my 500 pop up on friday and wondered if anyone can tell me if the dashboard pod for tom tom is now fitted standard or is it a factroy fitted option. Thanks in advance

Standard. Might want to shop around though. The fiat tom-tom doesn't have most of the features that a normal tom-tom has for the same price... But does have wires.

Can someone explain what features are not provided on the B&M TomTom that I can get on the Fiat B&M SatNav, or on a standalone TomTom product?

Do the TomTom's speak the navigation instructions through the car stereo, for instance?

From what I can see the Fiat SatNav seems to be pretty poor with no 7 char Postcode recognition, whilst the TomToms are missing some of the B&M integration features, but I don't understand what these are.
I like the dash mount provided on the 500 and therefore want a satnav that can use this. Obviously, the B&M branded products do this, but can I get any TomTom to mount on the dash port?

What would you recommend for a neat installation, but providing the optimum features? pros and cons please
