Re: Blue & Me Map

Haven't seen much about this option at all.
I did ask my dealer when ordering my 500 but he knew little about it, and advised on getting an aftermarket one as they can be moved to other car/cars.
I have a built in system in my current Civic and to be honest it is no better than your average TomTom,Garmin,Navman etc apart from having a bigger screen and no trailing cables.
It also now costs about £200 for update discs for it so Honda know where they can shove that.(n)
Will be interested to know however how much it will be to update the maps etc on it.

Re: Blue & Me Map

If I'm not mistaken, the map updates are free.
You just have to put some maps on a USB stick into the Blue&Me system.
So how many maps you can carry along depends on the size of your USB stick, not of the internal memory, which is a really good thing. (also makes it easily updateable)

I just called my dealer and he said he ordered it for me. It costs a little over €200.
He placed one of the first European orders for the system.

Thing with the aftermarket devices is ... I hate the trailing cables and things not being 100% compatible with eachother.
I mean, for instance, you got your music playing, an aftermarket TomTom will just give voice directions through your music, whereas the Blue&Me Map, would mute the music, give directions, and unmute the music. (unless you disable that option of course)
It's little things like this that makes me want to have a built-in SatNav, rather than a third party device.

Re: Blue & Me Map

My dealer (UK) said that it costs about £450 which is quite a bit more than 200 euros. Hope you are right about the free updates, as I said earlier its the cost of updating my honda one which I find ridiculous. When your car arrives with the built in Nav let us know how you get on with it. (y)

Hey im privvy to some of the latest gadgets for fiats (perk of working at a dealer!)

And i have just laid my sticky mits on the new sat nav that intergrates with blue and me, hence the very original name '' blue and me MAP'' and so far the little that i have played with it, it seems pretty good. not the best satnav on the market but it does intergrate into blue and me which is cool, and as such the turn by turn directions come out of the car's audio system rather than the unit, and certain voice features are available to.

i'll post some pics later if you guy's wanna see.

here's a link to some info about it:) http://www.alfamitoblog.it/content/view/197/lang,english/

Yes you certainly can, ive tested it on radio, cd and whilst playing my flash drive, and on all instance it mutes music and relay's dircections to you.

Here's a couple of pics.

Ive now since tested some of the voice features and they work fine. (not that you can do a great deal via voice but still)

And i have a rough price of £200 all in. and this unit is also able to go into any other vehicle. should the situation require.

Yeah my dealer got issued with them on friday. i'll post up part number's for them on monday if anybody is interested.

And i can email peeps the blue and me update software also.

I know nothing about sat nav's! Is it worth the money do you think??

I assume you mean is that unit worth the money or SatNav in the first place?

If you mean satnav in the first place it sure as hell beats trying to get someone to read a paper map (how come all my mates can't but I can?) or worse, you try and read it whilst driving

Ok let me clear up a few bit's here

First. The sat nav unit does have another fitting kit which allows it to be wireless, but this is an option that has to be orderded when ordering the car. and as of yet its not an option, so for all of us that have blue and me on older models we get this model.

Second. It intergrates with any fiat or alfa that has blue and me and as for upgrading maps, im still looking into that one, but as far as i can tell they will downloadable from fiat.com

are they just u,k or do they/will they do europe doe's it do any thing on the multifunction display? just to clarify are they available now... part no: pleeeeeeeez

Well at the moment i only have maps for GB and IRL but i would have thought that european mapping will be available, as for the multifunction display im not sure as i dont have the multifunction and as of yet i have not tested in one with, but i will post back as soon as i have.

And finally yes they are available now, and on monday ill get all the part nos available.

But my unit is part no 0071804250 (thats the unit with windscreen mount)
And the SD memory with GB+IRL maps is 0071804261

And as i said in a previous post if you buy one of these you also need to update the blue and me software, and if some reason your dealer does not have it, send me a message and ill email it to you. (y)

I think my solution is neater & it's universal.
Consists of TomTom720, Brodit Clip & windscreen pillar mount for the 500, an extra long mini USB lead & USB accessory socket adapter. When I removed the centre console to install the wiring for the underseat sub I routed the mini-USB through the inside of the centre console & concealed it under the dash & it pops out right next to the SatNav bracket & hey presto!

Just slotted the rubber cover in the cup holder & punched a hole with a leather punch to take the cable

Vindaloo, that looks much neater than having the cables draping over the dash. Nice one

Thanks grimwau, it also looks loads better 'cos I don't need the silly windscreen sticky either. I simply unclip the TT720 from the fixed bracket & store it in my underseat compartment when not in use.
