Any guidance would be appreciated. Looking for a electro motor for the steering column of a Fiat Ritmo VIN zfa19800004127298, I have been quoted $6000 to replace. This includes the whole shaft not just the motor as I'm told that's how Fiat make the part. Obviously the car will become a playhouse for any children wanting one at that price! I'm in Western Australia.

Hi again,:)
the steering uses 3 major components and a series of sensors,

any fault that flags up on DASH should store a fault code.. this code will point towards which component is faulty.. it's often a power-supply issue - even a lower battery voltage can cause PAS issues..,
so rule out the cheap + easy stuff 1st,
then get the codes read..,

may well be a $100 fix..;)

where in WA are you.. (I've got family in Rockingham)
Charlie

Hi Charlie, we are down in Denmark, the codes that came up were C1007 Actuator & B0150 ECU failure ( got told not to worry about B). Will definitely get the battery checked, fingers crossed. Renee

PAS completely dead..?,
or a warning light on and steering cuts-out ??,

Oh YES.. WHAT CAR..a web picture may help.. ;)

Charlie

PAS is completely dead. Having a hard time getting a picture in here (as I'm using my phone)of the Fiat Ritmo, it's a 2008 model if you google it. Renee

Hi, doesn't sound great..!!,

you need 5 posts on FF to be able to post pics,
I would post in Technical with as much relevant info as you can ( + pics),
somebody on here will have done the major work on the PAS,
mine have been pretty good..,
Chalrie

Cheers Nigel !, :D

you're actually posting onto a site where you're unlikely to get much help with your problem. You're on the wrong part of the site.

If you look to the left of the list of car-specific sub-folders on the home page, you'll see that this particular thread is for the Ritmo/Strada from 1978-1988 only.

You say you have a 2008 Ritmo---- do you have the later incarnation- the pickup, the European later car- which has never been retailed in the UK..As you're in Denmark,(despite the Aussie flag)perhaps that is what you have?Or,have you the Australian car, as suggested by "Portland Bill" above, known in the UK as the "Bravo"?

The model "Ritmo" has never been a UK name. Only (European name) Ritmos from 78/88 were retailed in the UK,always as "Stradas". This has caused huge confusion- I had great difficulty French registering my 87 model, only because it was called "Strada" rather than "Ritmo"

Your particular vehicle ( if the pickup) is- strangely- also retailed in Italy?Spain etc as "Strada"!!!

There will almost certainly be common parts from your 2008 car with other current/recent FIAT models.

I suggest that, if you place further posts, you do so in the "technical" section, rather than the "Strada" section- explaining just what you have and what you know of common FIAT parts- then you might get assistance from owners of newer cars cars with possibly common issues

Good luck

you're almost CLOSE there..!! ;)

they live in Denmark W.A. ( near Perth - Western Australia)

and drive an Australian Fiat Bravo - badged as a Ritmo,

YES they already know to post in the TECH section..once they can post pics and know Exactly what spec their vehicle is,

thanks again, (y)

OK, confirms what I said really.....

Be sure to post in the correct section, be specific what you have, and where you are!

"Denmark" as a COUNTRY (it was not stipulated where he was) has access to the pickup "Strada/Ritmo"

fiat strada 2008

FIAT, as I stated, cause all sorts of confusion by the swapping around of the names Strada and Ritmo
