Hi everyone,

I've gone ahead and purchased some roof rails from tradevanaccessories i was eager to put them up tonight and got a little too quick with the screwdriver. I've broken one of the factory installed plastic roof rail mount hole plugs off (head sheared off and theres black plastic left in there plugging the hole).

Does anyone know a good way of getting plastic out of a threaded hole?

Thank you everyone in advance.

The man's prayer : "I am a man... but i can change... if i have to... i guess."

Hi QuboCanuck. Surprised you didn't break them all off, I did. Each hole is threaded so just drill out the black plastic bits with a smaller drill than the hole. You can get the size of the holes from the supplied bolts. All the holes are the same size but the bolts supplied are of different lengths,
so you have to use the right length bolt in the correct position. The instruction sheet will tell you where each length of bolt goes.
I used a bit of sealant round each bolt
You may need to jiggle the roof bars around a bit to get the bolts in.
It's a straight forward job that looks good when finished.
As an extra thought think about which plastic cover pieces go where before you assemble
The bars are slightly bent so you have to make sure you put them on the right sides i.e they are handed.Look at the instruction sheet to see which way the bars go.

Thanks Arthur,

I was worried you were going to say that but really if im careful i really should be able to drill them out without damaging the female thread in the Qubo roof. I really am looking forward to getting the job done. In the end, it's 80 ish pounds for roof bars rather than the 500 they want from Fiat for the awkward round ones.

Thanks again!!!

Hi QuboCanuck. I vaguely remember that all the threaded holes in the roof are not used, so you do not need to take out all of the black plugs. I did a dry run to see which holes were needed before taking the plugs out. You probably did this anyway ,so please don't think I'm trying to teach granny to suck eggs. Best of luck Arthur
