Hi. After much dual carriagway driving the engine died on us today pulling away from a roundabout. Engine light, check engine on display, no power at all. Coasted onto the verge. Turned off ignition and a few moments later would not start. Dark Dual carriagway with wife and daughter so got well away and waited for an excellent Manchetts recovery low loader. The car started for him, onto lorry, home. Car drove off with engine light on. He then found and cleared P0090 (fuel pressure related) and P0105 (MAF) Will give it a run with multiecuscan tomorrow.. . Any thoughts? 1.3. 95 45,000 on clock.

Hi. So took it out with MultiECUScan scoping Air temperature (MAF), Air temperature (turbo), Fuel Pressure and for fun the EGR desired and actual positions. All look absolutely fine after a few trips up and down the A11 between roundabouts. Drove until everything got well up to temperature. Did notice that the Air temperature (MAF) stayed at about 15 for a spell then stepped up to 30 over quite a short period. Then stayed there. Odd, was not recording engine temp at the time in case that offers some pre-heat somehow. Anyway, will scope again if things go wrong.

The moral is, if the engine dies with lots of lights, and you don't have a road rescue nearby and already on their way - give it try after more than a few minutes rest if safe to risk stalling again.

Hi again. So it happened again. This time read the codes with my own fiat multiecuscan and they are P0090 again and P0069 both intermittent. Starts and runs fine. However was also able to see that the regen had been 7.5 km ago so during the same journey before or at time of fault. It does indicate that the regen was successful. Maybe related?

if it's killing all lights, it something more basic :(

sometimes the ign. switch..;)

No sorry mislead you. The ignition and everything stays strong as far as can tell, I mean the engine light comes on. First time was at night. This time was broad daylight, both times pulling away from a fast roundabout probably got to about 60 65

Hi andydiver

What obdII adaptor did you use with the multiecuscan tool?

Best regards.
/Kenneth

I got mine from gendan. Google that name with multiecuscan. Any standard Elm327 USB could work in theory there are many other threads. Incidentally have done another 5000 trouble free miles since the last incident including nearly 1000 miles Norfolk to Aberystwyth and back then to Poole and back, got 55mpg and not an ache from the drive. Well chuffed.

I'd try a fuel filter change if it has not been done recently. Cheap & easy to rule out and can cause all sorts of weird issues.

Thanks, did that. Now i can't remember if it was before or after the second time it happened, will look up my notes!! I suspect also a software issue to do with how the Ecu manages diesel injection and pressures vs certain throttle and load demand just after regen. We might be unlucky to have hit that moment twice. Can anyone find out the latest ecu software revision number for the Qubo 1.3? I assume that would be a dealer job, or are copies available elsewhere? ?

So..it happened again about 20000 miles later. Exactly the same error codes 90 and 69. Started up and ran ok a few minutes later. Spent a while having a look this afternoon all sensors look contact clean and dry, replaced fuel filter again just to be on safe side. It took a few ignition cycles to re prime from the tank. Then took it for a spin and stopped to get some diesel cleaner for the tank. Upon opening the tank filler it took a few moments for it to suck in air to release a vacuum. So bingo, figure the breather is blocked. Can anyone tell me where it is please? Guess a change of temperature, lowish tank and a good demand of diesel is enough to stall out the pumps with a vacuum.
