Hi Folks,
Just come back from a few days away in Manchester, 5 adults in car and luggage up to the roof in the back. Traffic permitting, cruised at 75 mph on the M6, 82 mile each way, = 184 total, just topped tank up, and checked against car computer, got 3.70 gall in tank, thats 49.7 mpg, by my working, and computer said 49.8........................happy chappie me........

Cheers Qube O:):)

I'm getting just above 50mpg too, and very happy about that, my g/f's multipla does about 38mpg in a similar driving style ie not crazy. I only wish I could get into 5th at 40mph with my Qobo but it still judders @1500 rpm, but I'm still trying to work out why...

My MPG for normal running is just over the 50 mpg, which allowing for lots of short runs is really impressive.
Was very happy with the fuel use on this trip to Manchester, with the car being fully laden, and with spending a lot of time in the right hand lane of the M6 at around the 75+ mark. Only time speed dropped was in roadwork sections. Car pulled really well in 6th, up hill and down t'other side.
A pleasure...............

Cheers Qube O.

I'm averaging 56.7mpg in mine, but i get this high figure by driving at lorry speeds on the motorway. Mine as the 5 speed dualogic gearbox not the 6 sadly. I'm sure it would be better if it was the 6 speed version.

I've asked several times on here...what is the final drive ratio of gear #6 on the 6-speed box compared to #5 on the more modern Dualogic box? Someone must have data surely?
At 70mph (rarely seen) the rpm is c 3000 which is stupid when economy is the order of the day. I'd be happier seeing 2-2500 at that speed then I might go a bit faster! I too drive at lorry speeds to get the good mpg figures (55-60+) and quite enjoy the no hassle speed of it too.

I bet on the fully manual box you don't have the car telling you off going into 5th under 30mph if going downhill... Or trying to change up before attaining 31mph, or 4th or 3rd or 2nd etc. ;)

(PS the averages I mention are using the car readout not Fuelly)

Now up to 58.4 mpg average, which I'm pleased about but it seems to keep going into DPF regeneration a hell of a lot lately. Has anybody f**ked there's off? a tuning friend of mine reckons the ECU can be easily written too to remove any software associated with it, unlike German sourced ecus.

58.4 is really good - indicates most important things within the engine should be fine. We have taken ours from about 20K to 21.3K and no sign of a regen yet (95Hp version, 61 plate, 50Mpg nearly all the time, decent length journeys).
Would not recommend turning off the DPF in the ECU even if you could, soot will still need to be cleared out somehow should the need arise....

By my 'confused' working out....I'm a mpg and gallon man.....I make it you are doing around the 50 mpg mark......with is about the norm for the diesel engine.

Cheers Qube O.

hehehe i know, im too confused when i see miles and gallons ( i always take the calculator to convert so as to understand you ). How many miles do you cover with a full tank? My tank takes 45 liters ( its about 11,87 gallons ), if its the same, tell me the miles and i will figure out.
Also, is there any other way to increase the fuel economy? i try not to push it ( at around 3K rpm i change the gear ), i use start/stop, cruise control in trips. I dont know what else to do (if there is anything more to do hehe).

Just an observation, But do you like these little mathematical conversions as you seem to be the only one that can be bothered! :D
Ps,Im glad you do it for us(y) Keep up the good work.

I checked my fuel consumption and it is 750-800km for a full tank (45 liters). Average speed 110km per hour. Rare use of clima. Few luggages.
Is this a good fuel consumption or no?

Hi Skillage, yes I agree with Qube O, your economy is about right.

You're averaging between 6 and 5.63 litres/100km at 110km/h which in imperial (proper(y)) units is 47 to 50 mpg at 68 mph.

Most of us on the Qubo/Fiorino Forum get a little more - 50 to 54 mpg. :)

Hello Quboffin,

thank you for your proper ;) answer.
Is there any "tip" for better fuel economy?
Its not a huge difference, but if i can do something better, why not to do it :).

Also thanks Qube O. for your conversion. All this months that i joined the forum im doing the mathematical conversion of the gallons and miles, and it was time someone to do the opposite to help ( from km to miles and liters to gallons )..

There must be loads of tips for good fuel economy, my favourite is to always leave a good gap between you and the car in front, gives you more time to react, coast down to speed, anticipate traffic, brake less, saving brake pads, discs, wasted fuel, and frazzled nerves..
To my mind, too many people drive too close to the car in front, too dangerous, wastefull, and a PITA.
I rest my case m'lud.

Hi, just a quick note, my 95hp mjd did the average 50 or so for the last 13k miles and over a week dropped to 42. Changes the air filter this morning for a cheap after market one and on a 60-70mph run over 150 miles today back up to 50-51mpg. £7.50 well spent.
