Its a well known problem with the Punto that the plug on the resistor pack overheats and causes problems with the blower motor. I have had this problem on 2 Puntos.
Now a friend of mine has a 6 month old Qubo and he told me he is suffering the same problem
Immediately I thought of the Punto problem.
He took it back to the main dealer for a quick repair. To cut a very long story short it appears the fuse position in the main fuse box has melted.
Seems to me the same old story, Fiat have underestimated the current drawn by the blower motor.
Now Fiat UK have got involved as they are now talking about renewing the fuse box which included the entire wiring harness. The garage on the advice of Fiat states its impossible to change the box on its own as they wont splice wires together to effect a repair
It looks as though Fiat will be sending down one of their own technicians to carry out the work.
Its a good job this vehicle is still under warranty

Hi Ted,
thanks for the info,

has the vehicle got Climate..? or a standard "turny knob" dash panel..??

Charlie

It has the standard 4 position switch on the dash for the motor blower like my Punto
I thought when my friend asked me about this, " ah the usual Punto problem" but its far worse.
I cant see for the life of me how they are going to change the entire fuse box as the heater fuse has melted the socket
Interesting especially when you are not the owner.

6 weeks have now passed with no response from Fiat UK or local dealer about repairing this fuse box.
Shocking !
How can you drive around with a Mobility vehicle with a dodgy fuse box ?

A few days ago he spoke to the local Trading Standards
On their advice, as they have had ample opportunity to rectify the problem he has written to the dealer asking for a full refund
That should get a response !

A technician ( or should it be mechanic) came down to the dealer direct from Fiat UK.
The main Fiat dealer didn`t feel competent enough to carry out the work
The fuse box was changed for a new one.
That`s all I know
Hopefully, end of story

Was that the fuse box under the dash or the one under the bonnet?

Re: Heater problems on my Qubo

Hopefully someone can help.

The other day (Monday) I went to turn the heating on in my Qubo to defrost the windscreen. I rarely have the heating on in the car as I prefer to have the window open.

However, turning the dial, numbers 1 - 3 gave no air, number 4 blasted the air out (as one would expect), this then also gave out.

Took it to the local Fiat garage yesterday and they did a first fix on the resistor pack, no joy, as it was still blowing the 25 amp fuse. They suggested that next they should first fix the heater blower assembly (at a cost of £199.20 inc. VAT). I was glad I was sat down. If that doesn't work I can then ask them to look at the wiring for as many hours as I wish.

Apart from being annoyed it appears this could be a common problem across various Fiat models. On all my previous cars including really old bangers, I have never suffered a heater problem so I can only guess that this is a bad design or a design fault that was never addressed.

I am going outside in a bit to see if I can see if there is a melted wire, unfortunately I do not have a multi-meter to check whether the actual heater blower is still drawing current but I can rig up a bulb.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Re: Heater problems on my Qubo

Thanks Qube O, I managed to get under the glove box, but couldn't really see anything out of the ordinary although it was a funny position so the neighbours probably had a good laugh. I will have another attempt to look under there as I couldn't see any connectors just a couple of wires.

As a note, it is the standard 4 speed knob, with a central push on/off to turn the AC on (I had that fitted when I ordered the vehicle).

The garage worked on the vehicle yesterday for around 40 minutes (as I could deduct from the charge). After changing the resistor pack I think it blew all their remaining 25 amp fuses, they stopped when they had none left & removed the resistor pack.

Hi,sorry for butting in on the thread,i have just started looking at the Qubo,i thought Climate Control, was not available for the Qubo,is this incorrect?
Cheers,Graham.

My Qubo went back into the garage today to have a 1st fix heater blower part fitted.

Apparently the motor was stuck which is why the 25a fuse was being blown.

After changing this they also discovered that the resistor pack also needed doing (again).
