I recently bought a 2012 Qubo 1.3mjet dualogic to replace my 2009 Pug Bipper Tepee Outdoor 1.4HD manual.

Whilst running the Bipper,I used a Garmin 2460LMT satnav.,As this is bluetooth I also bought the Garmin Mechanic Ecoroutes HD (https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/prod38354.html). Plugged it into the EOBD port, it worked fine for 3 years.

I've bought the TomTom Blue&me2 satnav for the Qubo. So I thought I would just use the Garmin in the ecoroute and diagnostic mode. So I plugged in the gizmo to the EOBD port- it will not connect on the Qubo to the satnav ( the connection between the units is bluetooth). I've tried dozens of times, done resets etc etc, all to no avail.

The Qubo is not on the (ridiculously short) list of incompatible vehicles for the Garmin mechanic. Has anyone tried to use this on a Qubo- and what was the result?

I can only surmise that, as the Bipper had no other bluetooth capability built in, whereas the Qubo has the Blue&me, there has to be an issue there- but I'm no technician and at a complete loss...........

Any pointers gratefully accepted!

Have you tried a specific model search on Google to see if there are any cross-refs to Garmin/Fiat/Bluetooth etc? Sometimes another person will have had similar issues and a solution might be out there...

Just for info, I've got the B&Me installed and have the TomTom unit in the specific holder and it works a treat. I guess the dash unit could be retro-fitted but knowing the ludicrous cost of stuff when it's called 'after-market'....

I've never got as far as attempting to connect something so that the unit will tell me Eco driving (if I understood it right that I could do) but for the one drive I did where the unit had my phone connected to it it was so annoying as to be almost an out-of-the-window moment. I disconnected the link after that (Bluetooth from phone to TomTom).

Word suggests that the TomTom Live device which is specific to Fiat is more expensive than a 'normal' unit. The Blue & Me system dictates which one fits and it's only that one. You're caught but isn't that just the way with anything car related? What do I do when I eventually sell my Fiat? If I use the unit in my RAV4 it sticks over the tacho with 2 bits of Blu-tack and the lead socket is the 3rd bit to hold it in place. Works fine and isn't stuck to the screen to give away it's presence to those who should have no interest.

Hi RVM. Thanks for your trouble in replying. If you've viewed the thread https://www.fiatforum.com/qubo/330333-service-interval-reset-multijet-1-3-qubo.html?p=3382822 you'll see that I had been heartened by a fellow member's attempts with a similar bit of kit, so went back to retry and, incredibly, it paired immediately!!

Yes,I always try google for problems solving, and all manner of forums.Amazing what you can find out with a little application, how did we survive without the internet?

I agree wholeheartedly with you re effectively being held to ransom by car manufacturers for overpriced kit. I realise I'm stupid really-- I buy a Qubo from a main dealer on which, by my model year, FIAT had actually REMOVED roof bars. Though I figured i could probably have got some East European ones at a fraction of FIAT price, I was not 100% sure they would fit perfectly, so paid EXTRA ( though £160 fitted before my collection wasn't bad) for what used to be standard, and also was standard on my Bipper!

I would have kept the Bipper ( new from a French dealer in 2009) but my wife wanted an auto- and, in all honesty, I always (again stupidly) wished my Bipper was a Qubo!! So, the Bipper had- as standard as opposed to a cost option from FIAT- torch around the boot light (£60), spare wheel and carrier and jack and tools (£hundreds),reversing sensors (£150approx).

I again KNOW I'm daft in buying the Tomtom blue&me2- but the car had the socket! I got a good price, less than £200, but it's a retrograde step when looked at objectively- my Garmin has free lifetime map and traffic updates, I'm gonna have to pay for tomtom- though, on NON-FIAT related equipment from tomtom, they are free.

But,I guess that's why they successfully market all this stuff- fit the option, and make you want what you don't really need!

Also,I'm not interested in phones, so was happy to use an old brick of a Nokia 3410. BUT, now I've got blue&me, I've bought an android smartphone-- but I didn't need the SMS read function, as I never text, so ignored that feature on the blue&me phone compatibility list.

I reckon we all, who love FIATs , are crazy. I've had numerous FIATs since my X1/9, including a Doblo and a Marea HLX20V. Each gave me some problems, but I overlooked them as I love FIATs!! I've had several Lancias, exactly the same issues, but I still love 'em.

I'm so daft, that I run a 1987 FIAT Strada Abarth 130TC, and when a lorry recently decided to hit it, and damage EVERY panel of the offside, causing the insurers to declare it a total loss, I couldn't walk away, bought the salvage off them, and had it rebuilt.

I KNOW I should be committed for chucking money at FIAT. God knows, I've never had decent aftersales service yet from their network- but i still DO-- and I love my Qubo, whereas I just used my Bipper!

Happy Xmas
