Hi all, I am a new Qubo owner and am fairly happy with it, except the fuel consumption isn't as great as it says in specs, but I do mainly use it on short runs & where I live is all hills, so I do have to use my right foot quite heavily to get up some of them, when leaving my house

My main query or problem, is there any way easily to get the power plug/cigarette lighter socket to stay active when ignition is turned off?
I often need to leave things plugged in & live for shortish periods of time with ignition off

For example when using sat nav & popping into a shop or short stop on route to destination. I hate having to keep resetting sat nav & wait for traffic to catch up

I do some wildlife rescue work for a local wildlife hospital, so also often need to use an ornage flashing roof light warning beacon when stopped on awkward places/busy main roads to deal with a RTA involving a fox/badger or deer etc

I don't like leaving the engine running & keys in ignition while working on road side more than neccessary and the socket is turned off when ignition is off

I'm sure somebody can do some wiring work for you. But I'd make sure there was some sort of time limit, you don't want to forget and come back to a flat battery ;)

But re the satnav, I wouldn't leave one on display in a car for one moment. A colleague had one nicked from her car when she was absent, in the middle of the night, for just three minutes. I always remove mine every time I get out, and that's ten times a night! You get used to it.

Hi Qubist Friends, Think I would be a little concerned to have that wiring altered. If you think about it, most, (certainly mine), always ask Re your insurance 'if any modifications have been made to the car'. Now if the proverbial was to hit the fan, and something connected to this altered supply burst into flames........I suspect you would get no change from your insurance company. Just a thought you understand...
Take care, Qube O.

The radio has a constant power supply, and timed cut off, which i think is 10mins. It's not a hatd job, but one for a spark to wire it into the radio power supply. Our Garmin Sat-nav will run for 5 hours if fully charged on pc.
Sorry I cant be of any more help.

Cheers Ian

Hail Fellow Qubist, (and Kia owner),
Nice idea by Highlander, and if my aged memory serves correctly, I think you can go into the radio menu and extend the 'awake' time. Think mine is set to 20 mins......
Take care,
Cheers Qube O...

No, the radio has a timer in it, so no feeds to it are timed, its a constant live and ignition switched 'signal' feed ;)
