Hi there, just wondering if anyone has the new 95bhp Qubo yet, or has had a test drive in one. I am thinking about trading my 1.4 in but would like a bit more info, like stretching the 1.3 MJ to 95bhp? can it cope. You also don't get the roofbars with the mylife model, I know it's not much but it's still an extra you have to pay for.(n)

Hi Crossman,

Everyone I've spoken to, including dealers (on the quiet), have said avoid the 95hp Qubo........it has a ongoing EGR problem which affects most cars.

Anyway the 75hp is a great car, mine travels at 70-80 on the motorway no problem, and it returns fantastic MPG.

Cheers Qube O.

Thanks for that Qube O,I will bare that in mind and will mention this to the sales guy I deal with. I have bought a couple of cars from them and they have always been very helpful and supportive whenever I needed any help or advice. I would prefer the extra power as I have already got a Panda Cross 1.3 MJ with a tuning box which boosts the power nicely but I think the Qubo would be better with the 95 bhp.
Hopefully the EGR problems will get sorted but I will see what my sales guy says next week. Thanks again.(y)

Like Qube O, we have found bo great problems with the 75bhp engine, but can tell a story about the 95bhp unit. Our daughter went to test drive a Grande Punto Sport with the 95bhp unit, the test drive lasted 5 minutes, the turbo blew up.
When they towed the car back into the garage we heard a mechanic state " oh christ not another one". As far as i'm aware this is the same unit that is in the Qubo 95bhp.........need I say more.

No i'm like Qubo O, the 75 ticks all the boxes with regards to our needs, I see no point in buying a car that has a question mark over the engine, just so I can get to 60 mph a second or so quicker. Save yourself a few bob and go for the 75 with those nice roofrails.

cheers Ian

Thanks Highlander, not sounding good for the 95 then. I must admit I used to have a Panda 1.3 MJ and that was excellent alot more responsive than the Cross I have now. Probably will stick to 75 then, should be ok,thanks again(y)

The euro 5 engines are quite a bit different to the euro 4 and I am hoping fix some of the issues. I think the only real issues are the dpfs on the euro4 engine which was unlikely to have seen any proper development as it was a late addition for a few markets.

The 90bhp has been out since 2006 without any big issues over here in italy.

From crossman, on the first post:

"but would like a bit more info, like stretching the 1.3 MJ to 95bhp? can it cope."

The 1.3 Multijet with 95 HP makes 76.1 HP per liter. That's rather less than the 210 HP 2.4. JTD. That engine makes 87.9 HP per liter. If the 1.3 were tuned to the same level it would get 110 HP.

I don't think you'll see more from this engine anytime soon. That has a lot more to with motor taxation here in Belgium than any technical reason. Normally you get 10 KW or 13.6 HP per CV or 200 cm3. This engine is taxed at 7CV here so only 70 KW or 95 HP. More than that and you pay a lot more in taxes on the first registration and change of owner plus again every year. If a more powerful version of the 1.3 JTD came out it would most likely not be sold here.

@ Ratton Laveur,

Even though your information is "old", it is not outdated.
It was very interesting, as I am also bengian and have bought (payed, waiting for the car in a few days) the 95 HP diesel in a Qubo.

Al others,...
I hope that the initial problems with the 95 HP diesel have been resolved.

Hi Nondisputandum,

The general feeling seems to be..........providing you do good long runs every few days the problems will be kept at bay, however if you do a lot of local/short runs these problems can/will happen.

Cheers Qube O.

@ Qubo O,

The Qubo will do roundabout 2x 1 hour of traffic, 5 days a week, no highways but secumundary city roads and (jolly) tertiary asfalt roads through the green fields of the Flemish Ardennes. (up and down and round and round,.... yeehaa).

Oh,... b4i forget,... my wife will do most of the driving. Whats the cost for a now turbo?

Hi all, I had a good look about before buying our 1.3 95 last week end. . . Then found this thread! We really like the car and think it needs the extra poke. It has 21000 and is 2012 vintage. . Any word on ongoing issues? This thread started in 2011. . Cheers

Hi everyone I bought my rockabilly black manual 95 trekking at the end of April 2014 with 1470 miles on it. It now has 8900 miles on it. I have changed the oil and filter myself at 5250 miles as I was not sure whether the supplying garage changed it. It has just done a round trip of 1800 miles to the south of france with 4 people fully loaded and electric fridge on the back seat, air con on for most of the trip. The average mpg was 46.8 mpg at speeds of 70mph to 85mph which I thought was great for the car. I had no problems at all. I do a lot of motorway miles and it just keeps going on, power is fine too for overtakes. Boot space is good too. I would definately recommend this car to anyone I love it.

Hi Mattdax,
Great, really pleased your happy with your Qubo.

Mines only the lowly 75hp, but on Thursday went from Birmingham up to St Helens, M6 nearly all the way, with 4 passengers on board, speed around the 75-80 mark, and my mpg........51.4. Like you power was no problem, providing your at 2000+ rpm and the turbo is spinning........the car car goes like a good un....

Cheers Qube O.
