Re: Which car?

Id say go for the bora. Also try and look for a diesel with a 6 speed box, they are reletivly cheap for what u get too.

Second choice would be the civic, nice and fun.

Re: Which car?

Hey Bushboy, not seen you around these parts for a while, and normal thread practice seems to be abundant. Less said about that the better...

Only thing I can bring to the table is the Seat Arosa. We all know it's a Lupo underneath and you can get it in 1.4 petrol or diesel flavour for plenty less cash than a Lupo. Focus is top dynamically but of course hugely popular, but hey it gives you ultimate haggling power.

Avoid a 1.4 Civic, they're pretty dire, 1.5 is sort of semi-sporty and the 1.6 is more of a comfy option unless it's a VTEC (think there's two variants). You could probably afford a breadvan-shape Civic on your budget, enormously practical and rides loads better than the new Civic thanks to having proper rear suspension. Not as good round the bends, but competent for sure.

If I come up with anything else I'll let you know...

Edit: Ah yes, the Bora. I've done plenty of miles in a 130-horse diesel and they're ok if a bit, well, boring. Did have a nicely Euro styled blue one overtake me the other day, mind.
