there are some more fuses in the glove box. but i thought the brake light one was where you have been looking,

I had to replace mine a few weeks back, but i cant remember which one it was exactly. i looked in a haynes manual and it tells u what all the fuses are for.
According to the Haynes rag...I mean, manual...it's in the main fusebox, top row, in the middle. Should be a 10A fuse that also operates the hazard lights, engine speed sensor, clock, indicators, and instrument panel.
So, unless the rest of those things are also dead, and your engine won't run, it's probably not the fuse Check the bulbs and the operation of the brakelight switch - these have been known to fail but should be a cheap part.
