the K&N costs you 5bhp aswell so get rid (most people don't seem to care as they just want the noise, Weirdo's).

The GSR induction kit is £200 but gives you an extra 7-9bhp, it is also very loud!

A supersprint backbox is good for another 1-2bhp

A full supersprint system, gsr and remap (can you remap the mk1's?) is good for 115bhp, well worth it but expensive to get that far.

so they do a gsr for the 1.2 16v? i thought the k&n was in quite a good place lol, behind the battery? i doubt it would loose 5bhp  i would expect it to gain, because of the location  lol

il be keeping my peco ;)

no, cant remap, just chip, and dont have money for that, £300 odd.

Save your money until you have learnt to drive mate...if you start adding mods as soon as you pass your test you won't be able to afford the insurance :p

well you better start saving for that lot then!!:p

one of the problems with generic filters and K&N's etc is the intake pipe lenght.
its no where near long enough or wide enough for a road engine.

for a 20,000rpm F1 engine, MAYBE, but unless your engine revs that high NU UH.

you need length and girth ;)

and then a resonably resistive filter on the end

They do a gsr kit for the mk2 so i am almost certain that there is one for the mk1 aswell.

The K&N kit has a very short induction pipe which is bad for torque, in your car it is also positioned in a place that would have a very low air pressure. Ideally you want the inlet to be located just behind the front bumper (not too low though). You also want a nice long induction tube that narrows as it nears the throttle body (to reduce turbulance and increase air speed).

Trust me. My K&N, short of giving my car a burble when i under-revved it, made my hgt feel a lot slower than it should. After removing it and replacing it with a stock airbox it felt faster and more responsive.
