We have been investigating to find out why the CODE LIGHT came on the MK1 Punto cabrio 1.6.
The car will not start anymore!:bang:
We have check every possible cornector and fuses.HOWEVER!!!
WE HAVE FOUND THIS!!!!
We had notice the heater matrix has been leaking!
Found the ECU covered in coolant stains and water which sits under the heater matrix.
We took the ECU out from the car and found it was soaked inside and out and also the two connectors to ECU were soaked the RED and YELLOW.
Then we had took the ECU apart and found water on the electric boards inside.(you will need a torx fittings to do this)
Then took the ciruit board out and found that it has burnt the ciruit and case due to the amount off water inside.
This has been the cause off the CODE LIGHT to come on the MK1 Punto cabrio 1.6.
We are hopeing to get this ECU repaired asap
I recommend that all MK1 Punto owners are to check if there matrix is leaking as this seems to be the most common fault with the CODE LIGHT.
