Hi all, just bought a 94 Punto GT turbo which has done 82k miles and has a few niggly little things that I could do with some advice. 1stly a light keeps coming on to me it looks like a carrot but I believe its the engine management light, is this correct? I also have rather noisy rear brakes that seem to be really noisy when light braking rather than harder breaking although they do seem to make a dull rubbing sound. I also have a nasty knocking from the rear passenger side which I believe is the shock although people have said about the rear arms being not great on the puntos.

many thanks

not sure about the 'carrot' but it sounds like you may need new rear pads or shoes. The knocking is a common Punto problem. It's usually a rear arm bush that has worn. I wasn't able to buy the bush and had to buy the whole arm and it was a fekkkker to fit if i remember..... good luck

that carrot thing's not a picture of a hose is it, which comes on when you start up but should turn off?

The rear arm bushes, check with Powerflex as they may do replacements. They now do Cinq / Sei ones for about £45 for a set of 4 (I think??) instead of an arm for £100. If you do the Powerflex thing, best to change both sides at the same time.

Thanks for the replies folks, it does seem to be the engine management light, the exhaust is being renewed for a mongoose stainless system today and I am hoping it could solve the problem as tha knackered exhaust would cause the lambda sensor problems wouldn't it?? With the knocking from the rear it does sound liek it could be the bush as fiat also said it is a common punto problem but they said it sounds more like the shock as its noise isworse than the bush being gone, I have just perchased a full GMAX suspension set-up inc shocks and springs which are being fitted tomorrow so hoepfully this will solve that one. With the brakes, I think I'll strip them down clean them up and re-grease them hopefully fixing the nasty brake noise. I'll keep you all updated.
many thanks again
