Hey Guys,

I have just noticed that the passenger side electric window in my 55sx has stopped working. It did work until I have just tried it, for a while it was intermittent but now it has stopped completely. It was always slightly slower than the drivers side, I dont know if this has anything to do with it?

Alos, I have noticed that when the switches are lit up at night, when I press the passenger window control on the drivers side door, the light on the actual passenger side switch turns off, and then on again when I let go of the switch on the drivers side?

Anyone has this problem before?!

Look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers.

If the lights are dimming thats a sure sign that something - probably the motor - is taking all the electrical current. If you can hear or feel anything moving then that confirms that the motor is most likely ok, its just the mechanism thats jammed. I think you've go to tear down the door card and take a look.

the passenger side in ALL puntos (even mk2';s and mk2B's) always seems slower, I think its maybe lack of use to begin with, and crp gets caught up in motor and seals become brittle and less likely to allow window to move with ease.

Take door apart and clean and grease everything, if the motor has replaceable bushs change them.

The door light is mean't to go off, its to signify that the driver has control of it and you don't!! Does it on most cars I know.

Our older audi (9years old) one of the rear windows has ground to a hault, and I can't grease it or remove motor or actuator or regualtor as its all riveted into place to prevent rattling!! damn germans, a whole new thing is in the region of £6-700 by audi, german swine!!

Had exactly the same problem damn thing drove me wild. turned out that the passenger side switch was not fully returning to off when released. whether this overheated the motor or what dunno but for a while afterwards the window would not work, then it did until the switch messed up again. Turned out that the switch had been pushed into its plastic surround the wrong way round there is a very small keyway on mine. Since turning the plastic bit round have not had a problem since.

Sorry to dig up an old thread.....

But I have check the switched, both drivers side and passenger side, they look fine to me?

There is no noise at all when I press the switch from either the drivers side of passenger side.....

I'm guessing the motor had packed up completely then?

Trace the feed to each motor and take the connectors off. put a test lamp or connect a bulb to some wires and shove them in the ends of the wires you have taken off. then get somebody else to press the button and if the bulb lights, you have power therfore knacked motor. Try fuses also (i dont know if you already have as i do not have time to read above above posts sorry)
