Leaky Tyres

Hi all.
Can someone offer a bit of advice here?
About two years ago, I had my two front tyres changed (by a Fiat main dealer). After a while, they started leaking very slowly, and so every few weeks I'd need to pump them up. It got slowly progressively worse.
About a year ago, I took the problem to my local garage, and they said that they'd take the tyres off and re-put them on. Which fixed the problem for a while, and then it came back again. It's getting bad now, and I have to pump up the tyres every few days, so it's time to do something. Should I...
(1) Get the tyres taken off and on again?
(2) Get new tyres? (The current set is at about 5-6mm tread.)
(3) Get new wheels? (Sounds expensive!)
(4) Something else?

Oh yeah - the wheels *aren't* alloy ones.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Ben

Re: Leaky Tyres

this was happening on my new cinq soon after i picked it up (and no doubt before )
Our local garage discovered that the 'wheel balancing magnet thingy' ( ) was pushing the tyre off the rim

Re: Leaky Tyres

Thanks all for the thoughts. To clear things up...
1. Steel wheels. Not alloys.
2. Car is a P-reg (1996) mk1 Punto.

Thanks for the offer of the wheels - but that's probably a bit too far away for me. (And only one tyre is leaking badly, so replacing all four seems overkill!)

I think I might go with the suggestion of smoothing out the inside rim of the wheel that's there. I normally go to the local garage at the end of my street for things like this, but further down the road we have a branch of "Just Tyres" - has anyone had any experience of them? (I'm a bit wary that they just might try to sell me a whole new set...)

Re: Leaky Tyres

Get your rims cleaned, i had this problem on my 1995 55sx, got to the stage where i had to blow it up everyday, on occations the tyre in question would just got totally flat while driving. After many visits to they tyre shop and getting it checked and told it was ok they decided to give the rim a dam good clean - sorted.
