Punto's Galore

Just a little observation I made the other day...

Pulled up on the pub car park. There were 9 cars already on the car park when I arrived, 6 of which were mk2/2b Punto's + mine so 7/10 cars were Punto's!

How on earth are Fiat in financial difficluty In general around here (West Mids), Punto's seem to be very popular cars.

Re: Punto's Galore

i think its only the puntos that sell really high numbers at the moment. they are probably what are keeping fiat out of the poo.

Cool Re: Punto's Galore

There's loads about because they're good value, safe, reliable little cars with some character and low running costs. Plus they used to be heavily brought by hire companies, but that's stopped to try and help residual values for the private buyer who likes new.

My Punto was a hire car for its beginning in life at Robinson and Goss Ltd, and wasn't really looked after. Then it was nursed back and is a cracking car.

As Gav has said there; cheap to buy, reliable (debatable), performance easily matches its nearest rivals, plenty to buy, and whats more you can't beat Italian Styling and Engines. 'Spirto de Punto'

'cos they end-up selling them at pre-registered prices so make no money. Thankfully they seem to have stopped this stupid activity...

Re: Punto's Galore

i think all the fiats they sell in italy keep them going, my mum went to italy and had hire car as punto, and in all her photos, the traffic was just fiats, mostly puntos, then a few pandas and a weird looking fiat saloon that iv never seen before. she even said 9/10 cars there were fiats.

What?
Which city has your mum been? And when?

Here in Milan, Fiat cars are more or less 30%.
Thirty years ago most of cars were fiat, but not today.

If your mum has been in South Italy, I could believe you... but North is richer and people dislike FIAT so much here (with the exception of Turin).
Very young and old people buy: VW Polo, Renault Clio, Peugeot 206 and.. Toyota Yaris, a lot of Yaris (because is cheaper than Punto). Some Lancia Y (mostly girls)... and some Punto.
Just Punto mk1 model was successful, but 10 years ago.
mk2 has been a huge flop here!

Let's hope Grande Punto will go better!
