I hate electrical problems  1996 Punto 55s

All of a sudden (during a heavy downpour of course) front and rear wipers, washers stopped working and the heater blower at the same time.

I have checked the fuses and they look fine. I have looked at the manual and both the wipers and heater blower look they share 2 common earths - 4 & 7 in the manual, which are the ones on the front LHS of engine compartment and the one under the battery tray.

When I get a bit of time I will pull the battery and check these.

Has anyone got any other ideas as to why these 2 apparently unconnected items would pack up at the same time?

I haven't had a chance to look at car yet but I did spend some time poring over the wiring diagrams in Haynes manual. I have found a connection between the heater blower and wipers. They both share a relay (E1) which Fiat exotically call an "ignition switch discharge relay". I have bought one on Ebay and will fit that when it arrives.

This is the only commonality I can find with the blower and wipers so hopefully it will be a fix.

Will update.

Wipers and heater blower now fixed.

It was the 30A relay in back of fuse box, the yellow 5 pin one nearest steering column.

Sorry for the delay but I had to wait for a replacement relay from italy.
