(T) punto dynamic 1.2. 8 valve

Engine sounds pinking!on starting.Intermittent but when engine stopped and restarted it goes away. Dealership inform me that sometimes Fiat exchange engine because some have been "overbored"
The startermotor always sounds odd when the engine is going to make this noise.The car has done 16000 miles and has just developed ths fault.

Yes, its probably not pinking but piston slap. This occurs when the pistons slap about in the bores because they are slightly to small. And get slightly warm alloy expand thus making the gap smaller. Thus reducing the noise. This usaully happens in car which are only driven for short number of miles a day not getting to working temperture of the engine.

Thanks for info. Is that really the remedy a replacement engine? It doesn't always do it when cold. Is it a well none problem.
