Blog Entries: 2 Thanks: 18 Trader Rating: (1) | Hey there *cuts to the chase* Just wondering if anyone knew a company that would fit an alarm, and how much they charge? i'm thinking of getting one off of ebay but if it's gonna cost me more to get someone to fit it then i'm not sure... it's one of those "universal ones" | ||

| T.E.D. | Re: Alarm Fitting Shame you're wanting an 'alarm' not just remote central locking kit bcoz the M20 Meta kit is nice. Erm the universal 1's work fine but they lock ur car doors for you after 15 seconds of travelling as a security measure!?! Wouldnt like to trust them myself but there's a couple of people on here theat say you cant beat them, so i would talk to them. The ebay universal ones are cheap though, and would be better cost wise then getting a proper 1 fitted

| Re: Alarm Fitting I have a universal locking/alarm one (off ebay) and it works well. I fitted it myself and it was more or less straightforward. The only problems I had were getting the doors to lock/unlock but I sorted that after some trial and error. The kits do lock after 15 seconds, but only when you press the brake pedal after the 15 seconds...and you can unlock anyway if you want to.

| i am | Re: Alarm Fitting im going to be honest(and judgemental you sound like you dont really have the knowledge to fit an alarm.also you have not checked the wiring guides in the security section of the forum.why not approach your local alarm fitters fro a supply and fit price as its often cheaper since the profit from the alrm as well | ||

| Re: Alarm Fitting
I put the main control box in the same place as the main fuse box and ran all the wires to the respective places behind the dash etc. The only thing I had to take apart was the door panel to make sure I was getting the right wires for the locking and stuff. The dash didnt need to come off at all, everything was accessible (or if it wasnt, I made it so) The wiring diagram wasn't the best Ive seen but it was ok and with the help of a wiring diagram of the car it was relatively straight forward to figure out where things went. Main things: +12v taken directly from fuse box GND from a good earth point on the body Brake light switch at the brake pedal Door locking at door loom Door switch at door hinge indicators behind dials As custardboy says though, if you arent confident take it to a specialist centre to fit and/or supply it.
