Hi everyone,

I've removed Allen key bolts releasing the CV joint from the centre shaft, does anyone know how to get the CV joint off the shaft so that I can change the split boot?

Thanks

there will be a circlip you need to take off before the joint will come off. Obviously there is a huge amount of grease and its prob not visible. So clean it all out, messy task, then remove the circlip, and then use some new cv grease to repack it when you put it all back together. Should require at most a light tap to come off once the clip is removed.

edit: just looked on the eper and it shows said circlip

I was talking about 12. being that its the inner thats bolted i assume its that bit he meant. I don't think I have ever taken the outer off on a GT but going by the diagram it looks like its just a friction fit that one although i would be surprised if there wasn't any kind of clip - maybe built into the actual CV?? If it does come off with a sharp tap of the hammer i would guess there is a clip hiding in the grease somewhere but as i said in previous post, i recommend completely cleaning it out and putting fresh grease in so it should be obvious once its cleared out.
