Hey Cabrio 1.6 owners,
Does your ELX has the underneath exhaust heat shield?

Mine doesn't seem to have.
After a 30 min drive or so, my center console and radio gets really hot!
I know the ECU is there but I don't think it's getting so hot.

Could be the reason?
Does your console gets hot too?

heat shields are not useless, they prevent exactly what the OP is talking about.

Its not uncommon for them to rot away around some of the bolt holes, then they start hanging a bit and rattling and then people pull them off.

Being that here in the UK its not often really really hot it doesn't tend to matter as much as in warmer climates. No idea if you can buy new shields from fiat or not but if not you can buy just universal heat shielding sheets and cut and bend them. Some heat reflective tape would make a difference too but not as much.

You can get stuff designed to go on the inside of the car too, like sound deadening with heat reflecting properties as well. I'd not bother with this unless you want to completely strip the interior and sound deaden the whole car.
