Technical 176A8.000 75 Engines

the 75 never sold in huge numbers in the UK really, people generally seemed to go really basic (55 or 60 s or sx) or they went for more top of the range sporting or gt. The 75 despite now being considered probably the best 8v FIRE they ever made ended up in a weird middle ground limbo. Add to which they have always been sort after for other cars like centos and stuff and on top of that there is so few mk1 puntos left at all then they are getting pretty hard to find. In europe it was a more common engine, and also not only fitted to puntos like here.

They do exist, just a few months back i bought one for my classic panda for £150 including all the loom, ecu manifolds, TB... everything basically. Just keep your eyes peeled, one will turn up. Bear in mind when looking around that they are often not advertised as 75s and you can often just not tell from photos if it is one unless you can see a 75 wing badge or there is an engine pic. You pretty much have to contact people if you see one being broken to see if its just a 60 or is actually a 75.

That said, what seicento have you got? spi or mpi? sporting?

Ah yes, i thought i recognised the name, couldn't place it though.

Well the 75 is technically better than the sei mpi engine, given. But at least it is already mpi. I was thinking why not just swap out the bottom end for a 1.2

Maybe a little headwork and if there is a funds a C&B fast road cam. Will perform just as well as the P75 and in reality less faff too. Its not as easy wiring wise as SPI to swap to a P75 cause the spi ones had a seperate engine loom that connects to the body loom via a D4 - just like all the mk1 punto engines. The sei mpi is not like this so but more tricky - obvs doable but its not as plug and play as it would be in a spi seicento.

That or do a 16v swap - great engines the 16v. If you can find a rusty 16v mk1 as a donor you are away. Should be cheap to buy and have basically everything you need..

Any 1.2 8v bottom end will serve. Only thing the bottom end has on the 75 over others is oil squirters which are good but no biggy not having them. They are great for more tuned engines like turbo conversions as they help cool the pistons down but totally fine without even with a turbo conversion. Just better if one is available.

Any 1.2 8v fire will work. Which makes sourcing easy and cheap ☺
