Hi guys,

I bought a mk1 1.25 punto sporting. The guy said it was the rare FIRE engine. Great car! Handles like a beaut and has plenty of pull for a 1.2!!
But! My gearbox has problems as I hear most of these do,
First gear won't select anymore and I've checked my gear linkages and connector rods but it's all fine. So it's gotta be the gear itself? I get a discount from my local salvage yard as a perk from my job (they take our scrap metal)

My question is... Will a mk2 5speed fit because I can't find a 16v mk1 close to my area and I've heard I can't fit a 8v or is that wrong? What would I need to change and is it a direct swap or will I need to fabricate a few things.

you know it could just be the clutch and there is nout wrong with the box, its more likely as well...

It won't let me select 1st and 3rd is abit crunchy haha. If I put it in second and pull away it leap of the mark and slows down real quickly in gear
