Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have recently purchased a Punto GT1. The car is in good condition for its age and has had some welding done in the passenger footwell, other than this its rust free.
Today I gave the car a good clean, however prior the rain caught it for a few hours and when hoovering the inside I felt the passenger footwell was damp.
I pulled the carpet up and dried what I could. It's now back in the garage and safe for now, any ideas on where it's coming from? The heater matrix is all good, the roof lining isn't wet at all, it seems as if it's coming in from bottom of the car if that's even possible. Door seals seem all good and are not blocked. Scuttle panel is also clear. I think it may be the sunroof, but if it is, shouldn't it be leaking from the roof lining?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Sav

The car wasn't running it was off on the driveway, I didn't taste it to be honest, but I haven't lost any coolant. It's got me a bit lost if I'm honest

I'm not with the car at the moment, but I'm pretty sure there is no aircon

Make sure the panel under the wipers is free of rubbish/leaves, there is a fresh air vent there and water maybe getting in.

Hi,

I've found the problem, for anyone who needs to know for the future. I removed the top corner of the roof lining and poured water over the roof. The drain line for the sunroof is blocked and the water seems to be backing up and coming back into the roof, I'll be removing the roof lining completely this weekend and clearing both drainage pipes for the sunroof. I'll be sure to post on here the outcome.

Hi , good to see another gt on the forum [emoji106]?
Could you use some wire to poke through the drain holes ? Sure removing the complete head lining would be tricky especially getting it back up properly .
I see you are after an exhaust , I have a peco system on mine that came with a decat piece , it's been a good one and been on the car for over 10 years , it is pretty quiet too , not sure if they are still available though

I will be poking something down the hose but I wanted to remove it from the sunroof, and I've been told the spigot coming off the sunroof is very brittle, I would prefer full access. Plus I can hear my sunroof motor going but it's not opening or closing, so the plan is to investigate that aswell

I heard they are prone to rusting , sounds like you have some electrical issues too , good luck with it [emoji106]? [emoji373][emoji373][emoji373]

I have plans for it, but I'm looking for a mapping company any suggestions?

Don't push anything down it, you may block it further! Get an air line and blow it back from the outlet, then pour some hot water down it to make sure it's free.

last time i had a blocked drain hole, not on a punto granted, it was a bit of broken glass. I suspect from a sunroof that got broke and replaced before i got the car... no way i was gonna succeed pushing it down, had to come out the way it went in. Not something I have done on a mk1 but most cars have a plastic pipe push fitted on and you can either find it and as digger suggests use air line, or pull the plastic pipe off and clear it off the car and then put back after.
