Hi,

So i have this intake manifold laying around which is in better condition then the regular one.

However, the 1.1 intake has 3 holes for coolant...
Is there going to be any problem fitting this onto the cil head?

Edit: Cil head is from a 1.2 8v (lancia)

Here are some pictues.

assuming you want to replace the dirty grubby looking one with the yellow one.

That yellow one looks like its an earlier style one, like what you would find on an uno or classic panda that has injection... You could use it but you will have to port the runners as they are much smaller and will restrict flow ALOT. The overall design is better and once ported it would flow better than the standard one. The other water channel would just seal against the head.

You would want to bolt a gasket to the manifold and use that as a template to mark how much material to remove from the ports then slowly widen the ports with a die grinder. You also don't want to make the surface inside the runners really smooth as the roughness helps the fuel and air to mix properly.

So yes you can use it, no its not as easy as bolting it on. If you just want it cause it looks nicer it will be far less hassle to clean the original up and paint it.

EDIT: If you choose not to fit it then i would be interested in buying it for my panda ;) ;)

I don't think the water channels in the 1.1/1.2 intake manifold are for cooling, they seem to be there to get a bit of heat into the coldest part of the engine. In any case there is no circulation of water at all, as there is only one port in the head, the other hole in the manifold butts against the head where there is no water passage. In a warm climate I think it could be blocked off altogether. Maybe it just tells the ECU how warm the engine is so it can adjust the mixture properly during warm-up.

I studied all this when fitting a mk2 head from a 1248 to a mk1 1100 and came to the conclusion it does little or nothing except in a very cold climate.

I put the yellow one on the head. It just runs fine. Thanks anyway!
