Hi everyone ,thanks for allowing me to join your forum
my problem is

Fiat Punto TD60 176, 1997
I bought a Fiat Punto for my son , after a few weeks , the engine cut out ,on the road ,
We towed it home , and a mechanic said the diesel pump was broken,
We bought another diesel pump ,same part number , and removed the immobilizer from the cut out solenoid, and wired it direct.
The pump now works , and pumps diesel to the injectors, but the engine will not start .
The injectors are good
The glow plugs all work
The timing is set correct to orange timing mark on pump.new timing belt fitted

New fuel filter fitted
Engine compression is 400 psi /20bar.
But the engine wont fire.up

The mechanic now does not know why,
Is there a crank shaft sensor or any other electrical device stopping it starting????.

Thanks
Laddo

Hi, and welcome, :)

so - it's still a mechanically timed pump, and you should've only retimed the replacement pump.. I cannot see why any communication would've been lost with any sensors..
or are you thinking the dodgy sensor is the reason for the breakdown..??

have you tried tow-starting..?? as long as you're valve timing is correct it'll have a change of running..and not causing any damage.

not my field of expertise I'm afraid..,
but let me know if you need more info.. I've manuals that cover SOME of this;)

That would be the best starting point, has the replacement injector pump been timed? No good it firing diesel at the injectors if its at the wrong time! I am assuming that is a indirect injection model with mechanical injection.
