Hi I'm half way through changing the gearbox on my gt but can't seem to get in back in, I'm on my own can anyone give me tips on how to twist, move, shake it to get it in Thx.

This is not a job I have carried out on a Punto, but I have replaced the box on a Peugeot 205 single handed. I supported the box on a trolley jack to take the weight and slung a couple of straps under the box to enable me to move/wiggle it. I do remember that the b*gger would not line up, then all of a sudden it was there. By the time I finished, my forearms were a mass of bruises.

Be careful when adjusting the box that it is still supported by the trolley jack. It is too easy to let it rotate and slip off.

Good luck and keep us informed how you get on.

I know this isn't much help but there really isn't an easy way of doing this on your own without the correct jack etc. Even with 2 people it can be a challenge.

I decided once to take the engine out as well and mate the two parts on the floor then pull the whole lump back under the car and jack it all up again.

Ideally you need someone with a rope etc to take the weight of the gearbox from the top while you twist and turn the box from underneath.
