Has anybody taken off the soft top. I want to remove it and having forgotten my inspection lamp when I went to the shed I was unable to see where or if there are screws/ bolts holding it on. I tried with the phone torch but not great. I presume all the trim in the back has to come off first but can't see where or how the back is held on. even feeling my way around didn't do much good!. Any help welcomed, thanks

Surely somebody has done some work on their cabriolet! Is the back window zipped in? There appears to be a zip but can't find the end/start. Spoke with an Ex Fiat mechanic today, he thinks there is a zip but the end is under some stitching, anyone confirm this? Anybody have a spare soft top they could look at and see how they are held down.(y)

Hi Tony. It's not a job I have done, as we had our top replaced by a specialist about 10 years ago. I do recall that the rear of the hood was held in place by a cable which is tensioned and accessed somewhere near the rear of the rear side windows. Our original Fiat top had a zip around the rear window, but our replacement hood doesn't. Pity really as the hood is perfect, but I split the window last year. I have carried out a repair using a liquid plastic from Germany which has bonded the split. It's not too pretty, but it appears strong and effective.

Thanks for that Chris, seems to confirm what was said to me Ok, Hopefully have a go at it tomorrow, I'll take photos so I have them for anybody who wants them. My window was badly damaged but had been repaired, It literally shattered when I pushed against it from inside. I have a local guy here to replace it but he only wants the hood! The cable sounds good to me. I'll keep you informed.(y)

Got the top off today, nice bit of stripping between the rear side panels and head rests etc, Somebody had obviously tried it before judging by the number of bolts missing and bits of cracked plastic. Definitely a job for 2 people especially when trying to get at the cable. There are 2, 7mm nuts either side just in front of the cable tensioner and you need somebody to hold the hood up to get at them. Then when you think you are finished you find two pins either side holding in a wire and tensioning strap. Have to be tapped out gently. Anyway off for a new back screen tomorrow. If anybody wants pics Pm me. I will take pics when replacing it as well for future reference for anybody that want them.
