Looking at using a trolley jack to lift the front end up don't have any ramps, read that it should be done from the transmission diff but am worried it would force or damage the diff/engine/mountings etc.

Has anyone lifted there Mk1 Punto from this trans diff point, how did it go ?

Is there any where at the front on the chassis to use a trolley jack.

any advice on this please.

I've never tried on the diff, but I usually jack up from the Anti-Roll Bar mount/bushing point and put the jack stands under the wishbone bush mount just behind it. hard to explain in words but kind of shown in these photos (not mine, just nicked from another thread)

I jack up the at the red bits

another angle, what it looks like from the front

hope that helps, someone else might have a better way of doing/explaining it!

the diff or anywhere kazer mentions will do.. Pretty much any of the points the suspension arms bolt to the floor will be strong enough... I have some rubber things made of hockey pucks so i can use normal jacking points without damaging the lip that sticks down - but you could equally use 2 short bits of wood either side of it and jack up on them... Or even block of wood under the sump and jack from there.

Can't stress enough safety first....A good tip when venturing under a car is to place a wheel & tyre under each wheel of your vehicle & chock the others. There is no way the car can come down on you with this set up.

Hi
Kazer92 Thanks for the info and photos, very useful, the photos say it all.

blu73 Thanks for the info will be sure to use a wood block between jack and location.

jimboy Thanks for the advice about putting something under the wheels when lifted as you said should anything drop at least I wont get squashed :)

Thanks all for your replys.

true dat, always put something below, few people died cuz car was only supported with trolley jack/tire jack

I think I posted on here a few years back about the time I was changing a zorst on an old xr2 I had. Hot summers day, jacked up car, four supports + jack at rear, all sorted I thought. Under the car half way through & the car starts coming down on me. Holy moley I thought:eek: what the f....

The stands were sinking into the hot tar at the side of my road where I was working. If it wasn't for my wife who came out with coffee, I might not be telling this now. Pump up the jack I shouted, well I'm here aren't I :)

Seriously, never take chances & as pointed out by flisco people have died under their car.
