heater matrix - stopleak

In the old days i used to add "stopleak" to my radiator th stop it leaking until i have a chance to fix it.

not sure if i can even buy it these days, but if i can has anyone used it to stop a heater matrix leaking. did it work ?

i appreciate that it may depend on the extent to which the matrix is shot, but has anyone had any success. need to keep it working for another week or so if possible until i get the cnahce to sort it.

"Barrs leaks" and similar things still exist.

My experience with the metal pipe (the one down behind the exhaust) was it stopped it leaking until things got really hot, then there'd be a modest puddle - and it would stop leaking again.

YMMV

Yeah, I put a copious amount of radweld (from Halfords) in my rad to stop the matrix from leaking, by the time I had walked around the car and crouched down to look behind the dashboard the leak had stopped. Radweld stopped it for at least 8 months at which point it started leaking again, more radweld, stopped for 2 months, then again for a month. At this point I thought it wouldn't be long until it burst so I disconnected it totally and plumbed the 2 pipes to each other and bypassed it.
Of course this was in the summer which was fine but when winter came I was obviously very cold so I went to my local car spares place and bought an 12V electric heater, put it behind the dash in the fan ducting and wired it to the fan with a switch. Instant heat and no waiting.

If you're gonna use an egg, just use the egg white, not the full egg. I dont think the yoke could do with being beaten by the water pump. :D
