Posts: 105 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Limitations of tuning 1108cc engine Standard punto55/cinq.sporting 1108cc 8v head flows poorly. - Camshafts, chips, intakes etc. can only take you around 60-65bhp. Appropriate head work will make the head flow around 80hp. In reality the actual power figures never meet flow figures. Reality is usually approximately 80% of flow figures(fast road cam). To gain more power you have to go for bigger diameter inlet valves. Small engine like the 1108cc needs high rpms to make good powers so you need a camshaft with good duration and lift. You don`t want too much degrees for exhaust side or you loose low end torque. The inlet manifold should be slightly smoothened for better reving. The stock monopoint fuel injection system can go up to 65bhp with standard fuel pressure(1bar). Fuel pressure is easily raised by turning the nut on the fuel pressure regulator with hex wrench(clockwice). To increase pressure use gauge! This way the fuel should be sufficient up to 80+bhp(1,5-2Bar). Stock throttle body(30mm) is ok for 70bhp but after that should be at least modified(throttle axle and throttle plate nuts are carefully grinned as much as 1/2 of axle diam. and nuts nearly completely)or changed to bigger like 32-34mm.

| | Simple: Buy 1.2 16v motor from scrappy and swap 'em over. 80 or 85(I forget which) bhp as standard. My 55 just has a K&N filter (anything else is too much £££), and regular servicing also makes a big diference to the engine's performance. FIAT: Fart In A Tin

Won't we lose in high rpm's and top speed if we increase fuel pressure ? We gain in low rpm's, but lose on top speed because the fuel mixture must be more air then gasoline in high rpm's right ?
