New Punto - Plans

Hey all

Now, please bear in mind that this is my first post!
Tomorrow at 5:30 pm I will become the proud owner of a (nearly) Brand Spanking New Punto! Its a 1.2 16v Active Sport. Now, im aasuming this is the same as any other 1.2 16v engine post '99. I have some big plans for it, and these follow below. What im hoping for is your advice, comments and suggestions. Im no expert, and although ive been doing a lot of research lately im still nowhere near the standard of many of the members here.
Shes Baltic Grey by the way.

My Plan:

Stage 1:
ICE - Looking at having Alpine throughout eventually (Installed by a freind of mine)
Alarm - Clifford?
Alloys - Abarth Claw Style (Perhaps)

Stage2:
Induction Kit / Filters - K & N (What you reckon? - Looking for best performance here)
Side Skirts - Abarth
Exhaust - Supersprint (Same as Induction Kit etc here)

Stage 3:
Seats etc - (Abarth if i can get hold of em, new steering wheel / gear knob - Hate the standard one!)
Badges and other smaller cosmetics - Abarth Mats, Sill Protectors, Tax Disk holder etc
Dash - From HGT/Sporting - Aluminuim (White Dials are sexy!)

Stage 4:
Lowering - 35 (What do you reckon to this height/recommend spring wise)
Lower profile tyres
Engine Mod - (i.e. FSE Boost Valve or Throttle Body perhaps? I have no idea here)

Stage 5:
Manifold - Supersprint
Remap
High flow cat? (Id love a serious torque/bhp boost but not that keen on running with excessive emmisions - Im no hippy, but know what i mean?

So, there we have it. Im also intending to keep a blog going with updates etc for the progress im making on my car (With a nice full gallery). This is going to be a long term project as most of this has to be payed for off my own bat. Im studying for my A-levels currently so this means less work hours a week.

Also - Insurance. How much should i be looking to declare here? Could someone also suggest thwat kind of price bracket all these mods will fall into eventually (i.e. How much will this cost me?)

Im looking forward to hearing what youve all got to say.

Cheers

Hogan

Re: New Punto - Plans

Hi welcome to the forum, good to see you got a few plans in the pipeline, i dont know what time frame your stages are over but personally id do wheels and suspension at the same time as if your looking at claws you'll end up with a 4x4 looking punto if you dont lower it.

All the stuff sounds good tho, good luck with it all

Re: New Punto - Plans

Welcome

If your going for the stilo claw alloys, you will need spacers on the back and you may want spacers on the fronts too.

With 17s, you may decide you want more than a 35mm drop too.

Id recommend eibach springs, they do a 45/40 kit which would look good. But you would need new shocks too, something you could get away without with only a 30mm drop.

I agree with Dave, go to Angel Tuning for the BMC CDA and Remap package, excellent value for the bhp and torque increase you get!

Re: New Punto - Plans

Sounds like a plan!!!!

I wouldn't go claw alloys though, get something more exclusive And do what Dave said.

That would cost stupid money.

It would be cheaper, easier and more reliable to sell your 16v and buy a HGT.

I say stick with the Claws, they look nice on mk2 puntos imo.

Re: New Punto - Plans

Yeah i think the claws suit the Punto more than they do the Stilo, although saying that they are being done quite a bit now

Re: New Punto - Plans

Nice action plan, but why a new car? When you are going to replace half of it??
Better to buy something a few years old and give it a wagging over.
