Red face A very girly question

Am totally new to this forum so forgive me newness. Also forgive that I'm very girly, not very technical and also very tired today. So if my post seems a tad random then sorry

Ok I wanted to ask about my kind of car. It's a P reg sporting Punto 1.6i. She's lovely. But she's noisy

I just had the back exhaust renewed.

It is normal for these cars to be noisy? Its not terribly bad, its just a bit growly say. My friend says it's because its a decent sized engine in a dinky car

Would appreciate your points of view please.

And anything else that I should know would be fabulous.

Thank you

xxJen

depends what you mean by noisy. quite subjective.

Re: A very girly question

It's supposed to have a bit of a growl to the engine note, as its a sporting model. If you want it quieter, I'll swap you my 1.1 engine for your 1.6

yeah yeah

I guess it's maybe just one of those things, but just wanted to check.

the noise isn't really coming from anywhere in particular, I'd just say it generally growls. When the engine ticks over it's not noisy, as soon as I get speed up thats when its noisier.

But she is lovely all the same

Re: A very girly question

The noise is all part of the appeal, it was one of the main reasons i stuck with Fiat when i changed my car ...just as long as it isn't a bad noise you've got!

When i read the title, I thought you were going to ask how to change a wheel!

Welcome to the forum btw

Re: A very girly question

Fiat make some good engines and that sort of growl is a good sign, if it wimpers or whines or runs rough as nails then you should be worried, but generally the engine is the only bit that lasts on fiats.
