Tricky, the Golfs did get heavier every new mark. I reckon you might be lucky but I wouldn't put money on it.

Well it wouyld be close but i've dragged againts a vauxhal astra 1.4 16v and managed to beat it. so would be worth a shot at.
Let me know how it goes
Mine is only the 1.2 8v with induction kit and an exhaust on it. just the tires i;ve got now are really grippy so it doesn't really wheel spin which is handed when draging

Arf that 1.4 engine gives 60bhp, and reaches 60mph in just under 17 seconds. I think you'd totally whoop his be-hind :) Or would if his car wasn't in three bits!

punto's gonna win, the vw is really heavy, handles like a boat and the engine is really underpowered given its size, even if it's a 75bhp model your power to weight and decent handling should see you win

never underestimate your punto! it handles well in the dry!, the engine has good power up the revs and your gearing will be lower than that of the golf! :)
my 1.1 55s i had beat 1.3SRs. one of my sporings (1.6) makes a mess of golf GTIs :)and the std 1.24 16v is not realy thet far behind!

when he gets it back on the road or gets another cr#p car (give him a good beating for all us with puntos!)
