Hello everyone! I've just acquired my first fiat ('95 punto 75 ELX) after swapping cars with my wife, so please excuse me if I seem a bit naive - i'm new to italian engineering! Firstly I'd like to say that it's good to have a forum available given the advice (or lack of) you can expect from fiat ;)

Anyway, as you people seem genuinely approachable, I am going to swamp you with problems that I have found since taking the car on last week (i'll address the first one here).

I've seen a lot of posts concerning judder and similar problems, but has anybody had problems with acceleration (especially 3rd gear) - the engine doesn't seem to respond to the throttle applied - the engine is really sluggish when you change up (i.e revs drop) and only seems to gain power when you hit higher revs (around 4K). My inclination is that it could be a dirty carb, or clogged air/fuel filter, and I intend to troubleshoot these areas, but just in case, should I be looking anywhere else?

P.S I haven't got a manual for this car, can you tell me if an ECU is fitted?

Thanks in advance! (P.P.S sorry for the long post!)
