What do you hate about the mk2 Punto?

I have the basic mk2 punto 8 valve
rattles but i like it
seats are comfy
engines fine when not in a puddle

i think dash is brilliant
throw mp3 player on
phone
coins

your passenger seats broke
carpets are nice even when wet

i hate the

tail light
back bumper

I have a mk2 and my sister has a mk2.5 that is exactly 6 months younger. So far everytime somethng has gone on mine 6 months later it breaks on hers.

• Last year the linkage on my wipers broke, so my husband fixed it with a 2pence.
• Yesterday, the wipers decided to stop half way up the windscreen so my husband's outside now trying to sort the park out on them.
• My son went to get out of the back door and the handle stuck out at a right angle and jammed there until I'd locked and unlocked the doors a few times.
• The power steering stops working, usually whilst I'm going round a roundabout. Only starts working again when I switch off and restart the engine.
• Various warning lights flash on and off as I'm driving, usually too quickly to catch which ones they are.
• The dash is scratched to high heaven and reflects in the windscreen.
• The seats stain badly (found that 1001 carpet/upholstery cleaner does actually work on this though)
• The battery is dead after being left for a few days (2 new batteries before I realised it wasn't their fault)
• I've had a new exhaust and if I have any passengers in it sounds like it's playing a tune under the car! ATS said it's really awkward to fit properly as they're so close???? (am I gullible?)
• scratches all around the door handles .

BUT....having said all this, it's a really nice car to drive. I hate driving my husbands Golf as it's nowhere near as comfy and easy to handle.

ATS are taking the piss, you fit it on rubbers line it up then do up clamps. if it still bangs then they have fitted a crap patten part that not made right.
keep husband away from fixing and get the upgrade wiper linkage kit for £30 see stickies.
dash don't scratch it self and seats don't stain then selves, take more care ban kids from eating an drinking in the car.
go to dealer and get power steering checked asap. as battery is dying its probably just a bad earth effecting that and the pas
scratches all around the door handles . are caused by long finger nails and rings, take more care again, remove the scratches that are already there with g10

thanks Dave, I had a feeling ATS were taking the p**s. I will go back to them as they give something like a 10 year gurantee!

Unfortunately the kids are teenagers and have no concept of cleanliness

It never occurred to me that the pas and the battery probs might be linked, I'll get it checked out.

Just read this list & had to check mine is a mk2 hgt to make sure we are talking about the same car

does anyone else think that the marks on the sides where you are supposed to jack the car up are annoying? i was looking at mine today and thought, good idea, but they look crap!

Hate not having a clutch footrest! my old bravo hgt had one!

Same as above more power!!! t-jet engine of any output would be nice!

Radio not staying at same volume when turning it on!

Wish seats went a bit lower! im only 6'1 but still not low enough! bucket seats for me!!!

Ummmmm not sure what else! Sure ill fine out more, only had it bout a month!

I hate well could be here all day i suppose but the main bits are:

• Clutch doesnt have footrest
• half my interior is falling apart with the s***y plastic screws
• the switch position for the windows
• My sunroof tray was falling apart which i had to yank out
• Everything seems to rust quicker on a punto LOL or break easily

And pretty much half the things others half mentioned well 80% BUT we still love em otherwise we would have never really bought it lol

the thing i hate about mk2 putos today is that they are not deer-proof...

The fixed driver and passenger headrests and the lack of a clutch foot rest, my stoneage Peugeot 106 had one!!! ah well, still loving my Punto though
