It's pretty quiet in neutral dough...Cant tell if it works or not

My friends sporting has a carpet as mine, you should get one if it comes your way Tris, I think it makes a big difference.

You should listen to those trucks when they start, starting it is an 15 minutes proces of heating, cranking, heating, cranking, and when you get it started cover your ears, especially cause some of them have broken heads, and they sound like something is gonna explode

Yeah well, it is a luxury for me, it's a shame that I live in such enviroment in which I had to pay 5000EUR for a 2001 Punto, and the average sallary is 250EUR...And now I can sell it for 5500-6000 cause I got it imported via people I know...
And when you add all this stupid, unreasonable stupidity of Fiat engeneers, you get frustrated as I do, cause I expected more...But after army trucks, Renault 4 of mine, and dad's Golf 2, I'm pretty happy, but still frusrated

Sure you can, youre more than welcome

I was talking abbout engine noise when going uphill especially and wanna give it a go, thats when I rev it to 5-5.5K and it starts to roar from 3.5 but it's not pulling as hard as it screams you know....thats what I ment. If I wanna talk with someone I notice that I cannot concetrate on what the other person is sayin Maybe my exaust is bad, I went for a check at the exaust garage when bought it, no holes, back box is brand new (original like) but maybe my exaust manifold doesnt fit the catalysator just right cause it was banged and cracked so I had to weld it. They did a good job of welding it, but you now....some air is maybe comin out, dunno if theres a gasket between exaust manifold and cat?

Im gonna go rage a bit now...

2) lights are sh** when low beams only

3) WTF??? Everything you wanna do you gotta have a special tool, or a standard tool with longer handle or something like that, or dismantle the car, or spend 3 hours to wigle it out the system (for sensor wires)

and heres a new one, EVERYTHING you use often and is made of plastic breaks!!! Ashtray, adjustable holes on the sides for air in the cabin, seat release mechanism, rear windows, gear knob (if you take it off once, its just a matter of time when will it go off by itself)....****!!!!

And Fiat in general...whatever you take off you cant get it back in place just right, its gonna hang, fall of, break...

Hmm lies.

The lights are perfectly fine. If there not there not working properly or you need to clean your headlight lense and maybe get new bulbs (try the ultra bright ones). Maybe your also suffering from them misting up?.

If you need a special tool kit why can I do almost everything on my mk2b with a standard Halfords tool kit that cost £50?. The only thing I noticed you need a special tools for are:-

A) Cam locks (optional) to lock cams while changing timing belt, it can be done without them if your careful and know your stuff.

B) 6 Speed gear box. This needs a special tool to re-assemble the 6th gear after being stripped down. (According to my local Independant Fiat expert).

C) HGT Models only. When changing brake pads and disks on the rear you need a Piston retracting tool to drive the piston back into the caliper.

As for things falling off after this will only happen if you don't put it back together properly!. I've had half my dash out, wings off, seats out etc and it all went back perfectly and more importantly with no screws or bolts left over! . I plan on keeping this car for the long term im going to re-trim the interior and "coachtrim" everything to cut down road noise, wind noise and make the I.C.E sound better .

They light as a lighter, off course I have a misty headlights problem, that's why they are a bit "dirty", but I'm waitting for nice weather to drill a hole (now do this sound like a job one should do on a 21st century car, drill a hole???)

What alen key you use for draining the oil? It's big as my thumb!!! And on the silliest place, in the hole, facing back???

For things falling off, its not just me, everyone complains abbout this, for example, 2 screws holding front bumper tight to the headlight are so ****ty that the hole they go into is some piece of aluminium and there is no way to get the screw all the way back after few all the way screw-in and out s...
What abbout caps on your 5th door screws and back lights, do you still have them or are they somewhere on the floor?

you use an allen key as big as your thumb, of course

actually, you are right, that size is far too big to be included in most DIY toolkits.

rattles? poor build quality? i suffer no problems so far, remember that there are good cars and bad cars

Are you kidding?. Thats the pikey way to do it. Its like fixing a PC with a hammer. The right way to do it would be to strip it down clean with meths and put a thin lining of grease on the seams of the rear cover put a couple of bags of silica gel in there just to be sure and put it back together.

Ok I'll give you that one my sump plug is a normal hex nut (17mm I think). Easily fixed got 80p by buying a new sump plug at next oil change .

Don't quite know what you mean there. The bumper is not suppose to be fixed tight against the headlight.... its the head lights are mounted to the metal cross beam, so is the bumper..... well at least in my mk2b it is. As for my back light yep there still intack and have all screws (yes I have had them off the car to replace bulbs).

Rest your foot next to the clutch (works for me wearing size 11 combat boots)

Explain s***e?. I know your vocabulary is limited but at least try. The gearbox although a little fragile at times (6 speed) is briliant, its a fast smooth change and perfect ratio's for the engine.

Originally Posted by R12MUS View Post

Not it isn't its a 'Sporting' which means the box is optimised for as much of an exciting driving experience as possible. And IMO is perfectly matched for the engine and power.

Your is broken then, nothing rattles in mine. A couple of things used to but I fixed them. Only thing that rattle now are my Cd's etc in my door pockets and glove box!.

Do you have the sporting?, if so I disagree. Also why did you buy the car with an interior that you hate? .

Originally Posted by R12MUS View Post

Judging by that comment I take it you got an Active or one of the lower spec models. What do you expect?. Its built with the utmost cost cutting in mind. Should have bought a sporting or change the steering wheel for a sporting one.

Explain... everything comes apart piece of cake for me. Try working on a 10yrs old Alfa 156 thats the definition of parts being stubborn to come off

Name a car that you don't need a pipe to make the induction kit work properly?. If your not going to do it properly don't bother

LOL!. Learn how to read a guage. Speed limits are different in every country so can you see Fiat making a different dial face for each country?...

you have the most basic (second shopping car for the wife) version of the punto why would it need it?. Women don't read them anyway!. Check your fluids etc and your fine.

Again designed to be as cheap as possible!. If you didn't like them why did you buy the car?. Put a sporting interior in if you hate them that much

Its the linkage to blame not the wipers. Theres a modified linkage that will fix this forever.
