What do you hate about the mk2 Punto?

1.) Juddering whipers

2.) The fact that the whipers dont even clean that well

3.) The stupid refection of the dashboard in the windscreen

3.) No drink holder in my moddel --very angry about that

4.) You need the code to make the radio work

5.) None of them handel bars by the top of the doors for the driver or passenger

6.) The small red engine bonnet release catch is like 1cm by 1cm and halfway in the engine bay deep down by the steering wheel

7.) Finaly i dont even know how to use the trip computer!

I can't belive I forgot about the staining seats (mine look very dodgy in places) and the lack of a clutch foot rest. I've thought about manufacturing and fitting one - maybe I've hit on a market there

Maybe the fact that with the 5-disc CD changer it's virtually impossible to get a CD in or out of any of the slots when the car's in 1st, 3rd or 5th gear. (Not that I condone changing CDs whilst driving...)

Change Wipers straight after I bought my car new - Work perfectly with Champion wipers

Trip Computer - press once to change mode (the button on windscreen wiper lever)
If you hold it down for a second or two on the MPG mode, trip mode etc.. it will reset it to zero. (I worked out the other day).

theres fixes for this if you search the forum

1. Cant open ashtray if theres a bottle in the drinks holder (very annoying for a smoker)

2. Cant smoke if its raining cause if you open the window a tiny bit you get soaked.

3. Headlights are always full of condensation

4. Impossible to drive in 2nd gear it just chuggs along

5. No foot rest beside clutch

6. Squeaky wipers

7. Cant keep seats clean

8. Everything rattles

But i really dont think theres any point not smoking in it for fear of devaluing it because it does that perfectly well without any help!!!

Its only an 8 valve, what is the story with it in 2nd gear?

I love my Punto but the things that I hate are:

Juddery Wipers
No Clutch rest
Indicator stalk turning itself off going round roundbouts
reflection from dashboard

Mine doesnt seem to rattle at the meoment, maybe thats a bad sign

Yeah probably is- that piece of rattling car has fallen off

Quarrybaby- try some of that additive stuff you put in the fuel tank. You can get it from Halfords or any well stocked car place.

i didnt like the noise my power steering motor made. or the headlights filling with water. think that was about it.

My seats seem ok( well till i spilt something on them sunday) .... not sure what you lot are doing to keep gettin them "stained" maybe i dont wanna know

as for the things i hate.. i think you covered most of them

seconded! you cant indicate that you're turning off at the next junction when you're going around a round-a-bout without hearing that stomache churning plastic breaking noise and forcing the indicator down!

the electric window thing pisses me off too.

non colour coded wing mirrors on the mk2 is a little annoyance when you find them on most modern cars.

the fact that I can see through the grill on my rear bumper when I look through my wheel arch (not sure if it's because my plastic cowling is missing though?) makes me feel like im driving a tin can.

the fact that if you're broken into and the lock is damaged it ends up costing £200-250 to fix.

the fact that there's a huge bolt sticking out of the rear suspension strut and it puts you in danger of damaging any large wheels you might want to put on.

and the clutch judder, dont get me started on the clutch judder.

the fact that there's no foot rest for the clutch pedal, especially when there's ample room on the right side of the accelerator pedal!

I also found the pedals quite close together compared to other cars, that took a bit of getting used to, I thought they were designed for girls wearing stilletoes (sp?).

Erm, what do you mean impossible to drive in 2nd gear?

With my 8v I actually like the 2nd gear, I almost never use 1st gear and went up to 80km/h in 2nd.

About the staining even just sweat on a hot summer day, they just become ugly. I once tried some "special" sort of foam on seats, one day they were as good as new, in a week they became worse.

I mean like when your in the city or wherever driving in slowly in heavy traffic. You cant drive along in 1st, but if you put it into second it judders and jumps as if you were after puttin it into 5th (slight exaggeration but you get what i mean)

I have this problem in traffic put it down to me being a crap driver Glad its not just me got an excuse when I have someone in the car.
