Then why is this one of the sugested ways to fix it on this forum? Open in and stash silica gel bags? Now that sounds reasonable to do on a new car, silica bags in my headlights, c'mon....like 2nd world war way to fix a car

Ok I'll give you that one my sump plug is a normal hex nut (17mm I think). Easily fixed got 80p by buying a new sump plug at next oil change .

Thnx, but this is only the one thing I can remember now cause I dont do much with my car

Not against the headlight, but under it, or it will look like one side hanging

Oh and the engine bay is so exposed from under the engine that a dog can jump through it without touching anything...

And water reservoir for windshield....so tiny hole just 2 cm from battery

And everything does rattle, not always, but some situations like railroad crossing, I sometimes have a feeling my engines gonna fall on the floor! (Everything is checked and fine, they say centre console rattles at Punto and Alfas, one guy stucked correction rubbers for writing in each corner of windshield and fixed the problem, how convinient)

For the who knows which time: Its a nice looking car, goes nice, but in general its a nicely wrapped crap

Explain s***e?. I know your vocabulary is limited but at least try. The gearbox although a little fragile at times (6 speed) is briliant, its a fast smooth change and perfect ratio's for the engine.

Not it isn't its a 'Sporting' which means the box is optimised for as much of an exciting driving experience as possible. And IMO is perfectly matched for the engine and power.

Your is broken then, nothing rattles in mine. A couple of things used to but I fixed them. Only thing that rattle now are my Cd's etc in my door pockets and glove box!.

Do you have the sporting?, if so I disagree. Also why did you buy the car with an interior that you hate? .

Judging by that comment I take it you got an Active or one of the lower spec models. What do you expect?. Its built with the utmost cost cutting in mind. Should have bought a sporting or change the steering wheel for a sporting one.

Explain... everything comes apart piece of cake for me. Try working on a 10yrs old Alfa 156 thats the definition of parts being stubborn to come off

Name a car that you don't need a pipe to make the induction kit work properly?. If your not going to do it properly don't bother

LOL!. Learn how to read a guage. Speed limits are different in every country so can you see Fiat making a different dial face for each country?...

you have the most basic (second shopping car for the wife) version of the punto why would it need it?. Women don't read them anyway!. Check your fluids etc and your fine.

Again designed to be as cheap as possible!. If you didn't like them why did you buy the car?. Put a sporting interior in if you hate them that much

Its the linkage to blame not the wipers. Theres a modified linkage that will fix this forever.

You got to be kidding?. A small child could camp in the 1.2 8v engine bay!
lol ok one i dont av limited vocab s***e is sh*te.. maybe u cant figure things out well enough.

and yes i got a basic one but even the ones in the sporting

the gearbox is low and i dont mean low revs i mean its a long gear stick and it comes out from very low...

and things are difficult to come off with out breaking somethin such as the centre console or steering wheel.

its a cheap lil plastic car which is why i bought it and why i am changing it completely

Re: What do you hate about the mk2 Punto?

5k euro's is cheap. The average new car price in the Uk for cars of this type (small hatchback) is £13,000 my mk2b Punto Sporting (not the cheapest one) was £8450 new. The base model was £6100, which is less than half the average price.

Thats like saying im going to buy a toaster for £2.50 and then complain when its crap compared to one that costs £20. Get what im saying?. Im not trying to say the Punto is perfect but for the money its a damn good car.

Re: What do you hate about the mk2 Punto?

okto, r12mus, if you hate the cars so much, then go buy something else.

of course, that something else, for the same money, most likely will not have italian good looks, a sweet little economical engine, or as easy-to-work-on design (anyone who says puntos are hard to work on obviously has no experience).

its an italian car, you expect: looks, engine, driving fun, and not much else!

the sporting gearbox is lovely.

the base model punto's are best avoided if you are a car enthusiast, either that, or stop moaning, and go fit some sporting interior bits, FFS!

now i am not saying that they are the perfect car, in fact the mk2 punto had more problems than most, but, if there is nothing mechanically wrong with your car, then IMO you should have nothing to bitch about.

nuff said, i think.

Re: What do you hate about the mk2 Punto?

wtf, hard to work on?

Before I had this car I had zero mechanical experience. With normal tools I have managed to:

Change front brakes
Change rear brakes
Change handbrake cables
Fit a new interior
Change the engine including taking the gearbox off and fitting a new clutch (OK required use of an engine hoist, but you would need that for an engine change on any car)
Change the cambelt (required the use of a cam locking tool, again not exclusive to Fiats)
Change the EGR valve
Stripped down a JTD engine
Remove the induction system and fit a GSR kit

Probably more stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head

Now my car has probably the most complex setup of the Punto range and also the least space in the bay. If someone with no experience can do all that I would say they are very easy to work on

The FIRE engines are like mechano engines, they are probably one of the easiest engines to work on ever made!

And R12MUS if you stopped messing about with everything on your car maybe it wouldn't rattle...
