| Hello All, While preparing for my NCT (MOT), i was checking out my engine and came across something that puzzled me. I think its the gearbox but could be the clutch housing there is a plastic cap (around 1cm across) that seems to come off very easily - i lifted it off and could see into the gearbox it seems... Any ideas what this is? Is it some kind of filler cap? I have the Haynes manual for the car but no mention of this thing... Cheers pmcq

| This is what is confusing me - i thought the gearbox used the same oil as the engine or is there separate transmission oil? And also couldnt seem to find an upper/lower marker for oil level. pmcq

| Burninator of threads! | Re: Mystery Item for filling the gear box oil up, there are two hex bolt's one nearly on top of it and the other on the side, you pour into the top, and when oil seeps out of side then its right amount. Then put both back. IDK what the plastic one is I can't find one on mine?

| Re: Mystery Item It could be the timing mark cover on the flywheel (rectangular shaped) or the tranny oil breather cap (small round cap near the gear linckage) take your pick | |||
