Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

the best induction kit would be the gsr, it gives good performance gains and sounds pretty good too

off the shelf exhausts like supersprint should give you a little bit extra too

powerflow is good if you are after a specific design and sound, other than that they have no other real benifits

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

Nah, they are just for noise, get yourself a BMC CDA, it's a lot cheaper than the GSR and a lot better value for money (the performance gains difference between the GSR and the BMC is minimal whereas the price is not )

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

If you fit a K&N or pipercross it will make you want to drive the car all the time, due to different noise lol and will make you think the car seems faster- which is great!! I loved my K&N but after refitting the standard airbox I realised there wasnt any difference and if anything I had a higher top speed with the standard one. But at higher revs in 2nd or 3rd, the K&N is nice and is definately more responsive (But the engine is gulping petrol at this point)

I would say fit a panel filter and bigger air intake but the airbox on the 1.2 8v is right at the top of engine, so a BMC or GSR would be best for performance increase. K&N for price in my opinion

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

In my opinion, if you don't want to fork out for the BMC then its silly to buy a K&N just for the noise when you are fitting an off the shelf exhaust, which will be loud as it is.

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

GSR + Supesprint is your best setup, but with the 1242 8v the ECU has very tight tolerences and doesnt adjust much. Therefore i would suggest you either wait until the re-map comes out or buy an aftermarket ecu and have it tuned in. The first solution is cheapest.

GSR also offer a try before you buy service too. The 8v kit is £239.99 delivered, any colour silicone.

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

the BMC CDA has several flaws in its design, because of this turburlances are created. If you properly locate the CDA and fabricate it properly it will cost you far more that the GSR setup.

I'm not against the CDA but ive used both and the GSR kit is far superior.

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

ok. with the exhaust i'm not too bothered about powergains. i only want a new back box. just as long as it looks good and is good quality. what about powerflow or universal exhausts?

Re: mk2 punto exhausts and induction kits

i personally wouldnt bother but as you asked i would say powerflow over trying to bodge a universal system together, just remember you get what you pay for.
