i didnt undo engine mount, just supported it at sump with tire jack, starter motor is removed too, i only removed driveshafts gaiter clip at engine side and was hoping its gonna pull out while i remove gearbox, other one is out completely, hope gearbox is not going out cuz of that

both shafts really need to be out, you start putting pressure on the inner cv joints and it just makes your job loads harder, especially if the engine and box aren't plum level.

You do need both of the gearbox side mounts off.

If the box and engine have been together for years they do require a little effort to separate. A pry bar generally helps, but don't break anything.
 
Take it off the other end?

No need to take the (assuming RHD) driver side mount out at all. Only the gearbox ones (in RHD, passenger side). Remove the engine mount and the chances are the lot will fall on your head!

Most of this (although they suggest a daft way of removing the gearbox itself) is in the Haynes manual.
 
That, and don't forget to remove the starter motor.

Ah -- driveshaft -- you need to pop out both driveshafts!

Cases have been recorded where the thrust bearing has worn right through the diaphragm springs. It's said to make disassembly rather hard!

took off other side driveshaft and gearbox still doesnt wanna fully move away from the engine, i wonder how would they get this separated at the garage
 
Just done the clutch on a 1.2. There are a lot of bolts, one stud and three starter bolts. Right CV joint will come away as you pull the gearbox away, so don't worry about that one.
 
already broke bottom gearbox mount bolt, rusted inside and bolt snapped in two pieces, with one piece still inside the mount
This is a common mistake. I did it also. What you do you remove the 3 bolts that fix the mount to the subframe, and the gearbox can then be dropped down. However, the two bolts fixing the mount to the gearbox should be removed to avoid having the mount reduce the clearance around the gearbox, thus making it more difficult to remove box. The two bolts (at least on of them) cannot be remove without lowering the gearbox engine a bit so the bolts can be removed passed the subframe.
 
today i have finally removed gearbox from the car with the help of a buddy, it didnt budge cuz of those 3- 10size bolts holding it, who knew lololo, still had original fiat clutch in car has around 80k, metal broke around one of the springs and spring popped out, just need to buy thrust bearing and we are good to go yo ho ho
 
My clutch did die exactly like that at around 110k miles. I could not get the gears in, so I replaced the clutch. Looks like a common failure. The spring pops out before the clutch start to slip.
 
As you have got the gearbox out replace the whole clutch. It will save time and effort later. Complete clutches are fairly cheap.

why you would not just buy a new clutch kit i just don't understand.. £50 odd delivered to your door, new clutch, new pressure plate and new thrust bearing and you won't have to worry for 100k miles (i.e. never again during your ownership that basically means).

dunno, cuz i had used one just sitting there all alone in the garage, also a woman drives this car, so probably doesnt matter new or not
