Thing is it's not my car I reversed into it. Was only a bump. Slight mark on my paintwork but that's it.

What about the work that will need done after the dents pushed out?

My mums Yaris done similar to a Punto, wind caught the door on her car and hit the Punto. Not a mark on the Yaris!

See if they want to sell you the car, if so buy it and stick it on eBay as it is, will be the easiest way to resolve. Failing that, if they're wanting a proper job with new parts then it'll potentially be in excess of £1k depending upon where you get it done.

Buy it? Really? What would that even get on eBay? Wouldn't I probably lose money? I don't know if they have electric windows.
Sounds like a claim for my insurance maybe?

That crease under the main dent is a slightly trickier one to fix, that'd need worked, pressed out, filled, flattened and painted along with any other imperfections left once the big dent is pressed out.

Genuinely.... it's a common car, in a common colour. The only sensible and economical way of fixing it is a second hand door.

So a second hand door & fitted what's the general cost for that?

Well yes, the fact you've hit it will cost you money, but you'll recoup some of your loss upon selling it at least.

Just stick it through insurance and be done with it if you ask me - no comeback on you then and no cost to you until insurance renewal (unless having yours fixed, then you'll have your excess).

Well you hit it.... No offence, but telling it straight, sadly you're losing money in this no matter what. EIther by paying for a repair, buying the car and selling it or insirance, where your premium is going to go up for years,

It's a case of what loses you less money and keeps most people happy from here on in.

Diy.... £40-£60 as a ballpark.

Buying a door and getting somebody else to fit? say £50 for the door and probably 2 hours labour (stripping for the internals they need to swap, lock etc as well as removal of old door and fitting), depends on labour per hour, a "cheap" garage (no such thing these days) seems to be £50 per hour here now, so if you're lucky, £150-200 all in should cover it.

It's someone at work I hit it in the carpark. It wasn't parked in a parking bay where it should have been but on a curb corner behind my car. I miss judged it completely thinking I had more room. I need to find out off my insurance company if I need to pay anything. If I'm not claiming for my car I didn't think I had to?

How does this effect my insurance renewal, by a lot or a little?
