Anyone advise how much this repair might cost???

I need to find out off my insurance company if I need to pay anything. If I'm not claiming for my car I didn't think I had to?

As I've said you won't need to pay anything if not claiming for damage to your car.

How does this effect my insurance renewal, by a lot or a little?

Will vary upon insurer and your particulars. It might, it might not.

My mum has had 2 at fault accident in 2 years, and her insurance hasn't increased at all. Doesn't mean the same will happen in your case though.

They won't or I won't?

Both of you won't

they should get an estimate

No they shouldn't, as I've said it'll vary upon so many factors at the time of policy renewal.

They will give as vague an idea as I have. They'll only be able to advise if by chance the OP's police is in the renewal window and they can apply it to the current renewal.

If I just claimed on my insurance it wouldn't go up by that much next year would it?

As I've already said more than once it will vary upon a countless number of other factors.

it will go up a fair bit.

Not nessecarily. No-one is in a position to be able to comment tbh.

All right keep ya hair on I was only asking as iv never made a claim or had anyone claim on mine before & wondered of anyone had anything similar

It's the way you asked it, as though you'd ignored my comment. The best thing would be to call and ask your insurer. They're the only ones who would be able to advise, but I'd be surprised if it isn't as vague as my responses.

if i damaged someones car, my insurance wouid go up

But you might not be insurer with the same insurer, and your circumstances will be completely different to the OPs. Insurance is a personal and specific thing when it comes to pricing and ratings.

and what about the excess?
every..insurance policy has one.

As I've clearly said, this is only payable if OP claims, not if a third party claims.

Not all insurance policies have an excess, and 3rd party only policies most definatly don't ;)

ah rite,
not too bad then.

ialway thought you had to pay excess out if a claim is made by another person.

They all have clause's and other loopholes and B/s so iwouidnt expect insurance
price to stay same on next renewal mind,

idont trust insurers..and there number crunchers. :(

So I should find the same colour door on eBay and get someone to fit it?

Surely taking it to a garage get them to do all the work wouldn't cost much more? If it's more than £70 I don't have the money to pay for it so would have to go through my insurance

Still the best part of 2hrs labour, you might be lucky and get only 1hrs labour (plus vat), but removing and stripping the old door, fitting the "new" one, then replacing parts onto the new door in one hour is a bit of an ask....all in via a garage, if you source the door, there's the cost of that, plus labour, plus vat.... In other words, more
