Congratulations on the car, seems like an easy project for you and a great example of a (so far) unmolested Sporting 90....

I think it looks great with the standard wheels, and the stock interior is classy as well. The Strada wheels look better on the Panda because they look a lot like the original 1000S plastic trims...

I reckon if you just give the 1.6 engine a minor fettle and refresh the brakes you'll have plenty of enjoyable, usable performance. Those old engines are very grunty and with the final MPI mods they could actually rev and breathe (unlike my Tipo 1.4...)

I nice sporty Mk1 Punto is easily as cute as a trendy but now boring 500...

Very nice car for that money ! but I do not understand this:

Now the good.

N/A Delta Hf engine!!!!

It is lampredi 1.6 sohc 8v mpi , grand grandson of the 1969 1.1 fiat 128 engine :) , never used in any lancia delta in this setup, well, the basic engine for delta2{ 93-99} was in fact this engine, but with spi- 76 hp.All deltas HF were lampredi dohc. 1.6 and 2.0 8v and 2.0 16v.

I was getting my X-1/9's mixed up there. One had the Hf engine and the other had a Punto 90 Cabriolet engine in place of the 1500 one. ;)

So toady I have gone from this...

I've used the Cinquecento conversion disc for two reasons. Primarily they are the ones I had in my shed but importantly I don't have to fit the 10mm wider Punto GT wheel bearings (10mm wider to accommodate the ABS trigger wheel) and the wheels sit at the standard track width so unless you look closely you can't tell the brakes are vented discs with a bigger pad surface. ;)

Obviously due to not having tax (as my van hasn't sold yet) I could only test the car on the private farm track and I have to say the GT brakes are much more progressive, plenty of feedback and retard the car smoothly and quickly compared to the standard set up. The pedal travels a little bit more due to the size of the pistons but I can live with that. :)

This is stage one for the brakes.

I can fit red/green/yellow pads later and when the discs are done I can swap bearings and choose from the plethora of GT discs available. Drilled, grooved or both.

I'm thinking of taking the read beam off completely when I get the new bushes so I can do the rear disc conversion off the car.

Should make things a little easier.

Working on my mate Kev's Punto tonight.

About a week ago a garage diagnosed a failed coil pack. As I have a few in my shed I took one round to find the timing was way off (at least one a a half degrees) and it sounded like the timing had caused the head gasket to go between one and two.

So were the experts right?

...my 10mm spacer theory is correct and I think they'll look pretty nice.

In the mean time...
