Ignition coil signal

Does anybody know what is the voltage of the signal the ecu send on the Punto mk2 8v coils? (the LT side, those thin wires). Is it a gnd signal (0v), 5v or 12v?

Thanks

Re: Ignition coil signal

It is a switched earth system, if you have a coil not firing (you have a misfire on two cylinders) it is due to either a wiring fault between the ecu and that coil (never had it), a faulty coil (never had this on mark 2), or a faulty ecu, (changed quite a few).

Re: Ignition coil signal

No, no misfiring (Thanks God), I am trying to install the Greddy Emanage and everything is working except the ignition cause I do not know the signal.

So the ecu sends a 0v signal? ie, grounds the coil that needs to be fired right?

Re: Ignition coil signal

Yes you have a 12v supply to both coils and then they are switched by the ecu to earth to collapse the magnetic fields and fire.
