Let me introduce myself before asking more silly questions.

I am Gert from the Netherlands. I own a Volvo V70 2,4d geartronic... oopsie....


And a Fiat Punto mk1 1.2 16v SX from 1998. A bleu metallic one with loosening clearcoat on the roof. That's a ToDo for this summer

Furthermore I have mounted a ELX/GT centre console, bought alloy's which I have painted this weekend and will be mounted coming monday. I mounted clear indicatorlights in front and at the sides.

My wishlist is short:

1: get new airintake original or K&N 57i kit due to damaged hose and housing of the airintake.
2: maybe ad a nice subwoofer to the stereo
3: GT leather steering wheel
4: Maybemaybemaybe a GT interior.
5: fixing rear axle
6: New shock absorbers

Plain maintenance

Etcetera etcetera


So I will have a Fiatisimo time with it.

In the mean time I have managed to fix some minor things:


1: The leather steering wheel is bought and mounted. Yeaaahhhh
2: The GT interior is bought and mounted. Yeaaahhhh
3: New shocks rear, and secondhand GT springs and shocks in front. Yeaaahhh
4: Air intake from Pipercross. Yeaaaahhhh
5: Upgraded the stereo with some high end rear speakers.
6: Wrapped the roof in an antracite foil with a brushed alu look.


Did all necesary maintanance




One problem to be solved. The airbag light is burning and I do not have a clou how to solve that other than just pulling the lightbulb out. No OBD1 tools to be found on the interweb. Is there an easy way to fix it properly?

Then all you need is a fiat 3 pin to OBD adaptor and a vagcom cable, both are easily sourced on ebay.

Thanks for the advises. I will get onto it this weekend.

Here are some pictures. At first I spraypainted the roof White but that turned out to be awfull. Now I wrapped it gray.

Also the interior turned from SX bleu-ish green to GT black. And the steeringwheel from basic plastic to leather GT....

downloaded the IAW zippfile, purchased the cables......

And now the waiting starts till the cables arrive.

Probably need a lot of help at that time being a noob on software and especially obd software

But that's not a concern for now.

Next update will take some time. Today I discovered delivery of the obd cables might take more than 1 month.

Next question. Where do I find the obd in my car?

Probably I will have some fight with the programm to, but that's a concern for then. ?

you don't, mk1's dont have OBD lol

connect obd cable to the fiat 3pin adaptor, the fiat 3 pin to the diagnostics port near the ecu, it has crocodile clips to connect it to the battery.

Hmmm thanks, but it doesn't work. The programm does not recognise our car. The ecu type iaw18df /5z. Can not be chosen....

try on auto, my cinq has the 16v engine and ecu and it reads that fine - it defo can do that ecu

First start the car, then connect the cable? The way around.

By the way, the programm is in Dutch, probably it knows me. ? The only fault is. "ecu is in" virgin" state"..... No airbag options. At al.

i connect the cables to the car, then my laptop, then turn ignition on (you don't need the engine running to read and clear codes), then press connect in software.

Don't have any experience with airbags though, not got airbags in mine.
