Unfortunately. It works a bit. However, when I want to look into the errors page (f3) it says that the ecu is not responding. Tried every possible combination of settings in the obd cable and in the iaw programm.

My guess (after consulting google and hit into a Alfa 145 forum) is that the airbag has a separate 3pin connector. Altough I couldn't find one.

After all, plan B worked smoothly... ?

next issue.

The fog lights were hanging crooked so I investigated the reason.

Turned out the bar on which the downside of the bumper is mounted and also the fog lights is partly gone... rust...

Is this part easy to replace? Looks like it is simply bolted to the chassis. Only thing there is a pipe from the radiator also mounted to that, but I do not think that can do any harm hanging loose while replacing.

First dismount the bumper, than loosen the bar and than replace bij a salvageyard one? (without rust ofcourse)???

Or does the radiator come down when dismounting this bar? (only looked basicaly , I didn't yet ligt the car to investigate further)

been a while but i think the rad sits on that bar on some rubbers, but it will be ok with just the pipework holding it up while you change it.. I have never seen one that isn't at least a bit rusty, so if getting one from scrapyeard make sure you properly clean it off and paint it with underseal or stone-chip paint or similar

Just received a brand new one (aftermarket) for only 13 euro's. Not gonna scratch my hands open on a salvageyard for that.

Only thing left is finding time to mount it.

Nice Car sxdriver! Got the same colour as you. But my punto is a 75 so 1.2 8v MPI. And i also live in Netherlands. Where do you live in the Netherlands? Maybe we could meet some time. I just replaced my engine with a 85 engine. So in a way we have te same Car...? Hahaha

Groetjes Mickey

Hey Mickey

I live in Lelystad. And you?

In the mean time I mounte the new bar underneath the bumper. A lot of work for something you will probably never zee again in your entire life. At the same time I replaced the strut behind the bumper, it was eformed due to a collision by the previous owner.

Looking good again

:)

Hello sxdriver.

I live in Groningen.

Nice work on the bar! My bar is also a bit rusty. But i'm still busy with the 16v engine it's leaking a bit off oil. Question if you have the time. can you make a pic off the front of your engine? Thats the side where the exhaust is. Because my engine is leaking oil from there. ?

Thanks sxdriver!

Oww, shoot. Planned to take some foto's this weekend, totally forgot. Sorry

I will take some asap.

Are these pictures of any use?

Hey!

Thanks for the photo's but i need 1 from the left side off the manifold. There is a bolt on mine next to the manifold and it's leaking oil. I wanted to know what that bolt does. And fix it.

Thanks!

Is this what you're referring to?

Re: Our mk1 1.2 16v SX, the painfull end

And that's the end of it.

For the yearly APK (=Dutch MOT) there is some rust allowed. Even a lot of rust is allowed, up to 30% of the metal on the bottom f the car.

Our car had a lot more rust, so much that the repairshop would not repair it, it simply does not contain enough sound metal to weld on.

That's a major duisppointment and I held the dealer liable for the purchaseprice less the a year ago. With this much rust it should have gotten no go a year ago also.

Anyway, despite al the money and effort spent last year, the punto goes of to the scrapyard.

i connect the cables to the car, then my laptop, then turn ignition on (you don't need the engine running to read and clear codes), then press connect in software.

Don't have any experience with airbags though, not got airbags in mine.

First of all sorry if I am posting in someone else thread, just asking a quick question :)

I am trying to connect IAW Scan2 to my mk1 punto 16v with a 18FD.5Z ECU.
What is happening is that the software isn't able to detect the ECU when put in auto mode, and when I select manually the 18FD it's like something is happening but after a second loses the connection and asks me to reconnect.

Any ideas?
